a brief history about this Export Project...

its predecessor was one of the solutions bidding for the PLA army 105mm Wheeled Light Tank Project ...(note: it was defined as Tank weapon not an Artillery weapon)..

Solution A: 105mm Rifle , Front Engine, postpositioned turret
Solution B: 105mm Rifle, Rear engine, center positioned Turrent...

the Prototypes of two solutions in the bidding period...

years later, the Sulution B won and A turned to be an Export project... when it reappeared , some changes and modifications could be spotted..

this time...the Manufacturer bring the Enhanced Armor Version which looks better....LOL

BTW , the winner of the bid looks good and mighty as well....LOL...it is under mass production and replacing the outdated Type59 MBT and Type62 Light MBT of Tank Regiments belonging to the Infantray Divisions...

two interesting Sponsors in above Sponsors list should be highlighted here...last time , these two China Ground Defence Manufacture Giants were " Co-Sponsor" only...with the deeper participation, these two firms would bring more ground weapon system this time ,which make this Airshow look more like a "Defence Expo"

I'm afraid 'no'...some unspoken rule is : Any Commissioned Defence Projects or those Under Development and funded by PLA won't be displayed by the Manufacturer on the Airshow or Defenece Expo ,except those weapon systems displayed by the PLA Airforce...

almost all Projects here are for Export Purpose...

the SharpSword UCAV is a typical PLA chosen and funded project with high Confidentiality level. its further development is well covered and Test flights have been moved to sparsely-populated region...we could only find a few words hinting the current R&D status in daily reports...

SR-5 122/220mm MRLS--two calibers/four models of Rocket rounds are also displayed.

there is another 220mm diameter tactical Surface-Surface missile (GR-1)could be launched on this system...we don't know whether it is displayed here. the missile has control surface on the head section and container is a quadrate one ..

SM-4 81mm Mounted Fast-Firing Mortar Syetem--- the 82mm caliber varient is Limited Commissioned in PLA service.

122mm and 105mm Truck Mounted Light Howizter-- the 122mm one should be the derivative of PLL-09 122mm in the Army ,and 105mm is a traditional caliber for Export only.

AR-3 370mm MRLS

unknown High Mobility Light MRLS-- I doubt it is 6-tube 300mm Launcher , close to the American HIMARS concept

Chinese has any Plan to replace the H6 Bomber into Newer Something . is any Plans to induct new Generation Bombers

China is doing well in bringing self sufficiency in their defence industry.

H6 is a Medium Bomber...as the only Bomber weapon in China in the past 40 years, different varients(H-6D,G,H,M etc..) of H6 family acted as both Strategic bomber and Tactical Bomber/Attacker, even the aerial tanker(H-6U, DU) in the AirFroce and Naval Aviation...

1.the Strategic Bomber role would be taken over by China first ever Heavy Bomber project (Project code: H-20?)-- the 4-engine subsonic stealth flying wing design ..the Technical Pre-Research lasted for decades...Project started years ago ,when the Y-20 transporter's Design phase was over and test flying was on ,the full scale R&D work started from the year end of 2012 coz it also is the project to be arranged to the only R&D team with 'big plane' design experience...

2.H6's Tactical Bomber/Attacker role (its native job) would be replaced new Gen Medium Bomber Project...this project probably would be in the hand of some famous Fighter Project design institute in near future...we used to have such a thread--http://defenceforumindia.com/forum/china/51968-chinas-new-design-stealth-bomber.html

the basic thought of this scheme/concept is a Stealthy "Tu-26" ...Stealth ,high speed, inner weapon bay... as I know , the head of R&D team poured loads of effort into this "Concept" ...the concept model was displayed along with the SharpSword UCAV project which has flied...

but things always change... another team of the same Research institute suggested their plan which is more similar the evolution of Su27 fighter to Su34 Attacker...they follow the russian's method to Enlarge the J11's body, which we have mastered the manufacture and design techniques ,for more Weapon load and Range... improve the stealth details and add the extra T50 style control surface...existing mature base model plus less technique huddle might help this bird fly much sooner than the above concept which might kill that one in the end...

the current status of China Next Gen Bomber development might be :

1. Rate of progress : Heavy bomber project > Medium Bomber Project(s)
2. the date of new Bomber will fly : China "Su34" > H20 > new/Steathy 'Tu26'

but I would say , none of Prototypes of these projects would appear very soon
and all these are my personal opinion only....

the request of new Bomber is not Urgent for PLAAF...they just got loads of newly built lastest varient of H-6 bomber to replace the old and aged H-6H/Ms...H-6K was a deeply redesigned model centering on D-30KP-2 engine, the improved power brought more weapon load and extended range, modern avionics and newly developed weapon pack increased its combact ability...this varient would stay with us for another 20 years at least....

H-6K plus 6 Air Launched CJ10 / CJ20 Cruise Missile (over 2000km range) would be a competent combination..
