I agree.Actually, LHD can carry only Harrier class aircraft fixed winged aircraft for offensive roles and they are called multi-purpose ships as their aircraft configuration is decided based on the mission requirements, they can carry attack helicopters for ground assault support ops, troop carrier helicopters for assault, rescue ops, ASW helicopters for ASW roles as well as Harriers for ground attack and air support roles. Its not necessary that they will carry fixed wing aircraft at all times.....even the Italian Navy's Cavour is a large sized LHD..... whereas aircraft carriers are different from LHDs as they carry mostly fixed wing aircrafts performing various roles at all times....What about the USN LHD's i believe the USMC still operates the harrier from them.
