here we going to post things related to design of the air intakes of modern jet fighters & how it effects the engine, stealth & overall performance of the aircraft. different countries follow different approaches while designing the air-intake of their respective fighters e.g while designing their 5th gen fighters Russians are going for conventional intakes using a radar blocker while US 5th gen fighters has a curved or serpentine air intake to protect the engines from radar waves.... Members are requested to keep to the topic...

Air-Intakes plays a major role in stealth technology..

Now Days Air-intakes are deigned as zig-zag so that Radar reflection wont hit the engines inside ( Blades )...

Yes, YF-23 have a mesh in front of intakes..

Are u sure?? coz many analysts are claiming that the radar blocker would be used even on the final product.. But if you are right then its a brilliant news....

Fighters are identified from the JEM(jet Engine modulation) signals emanating from the whirring blades!!!! The RWR captures these signals and analyzes the signal modulation,spectrum using pattern recognition and signal analysis methods /techniques and tries to identify the type of aircraft by matching the patterns with stored patterns in the RWR system memory...one has to be cautious during air-shows, joint excercizes. so its necessary to put a veil over the turbine blades.. Air intakes shape and design have their own place in the design of fighter aircraft IMHO.A unique thread...may be first of its kind...great!!!
