Agni-VI is an intercontinental ballistic missile in development by India. Capable of launched from submarines or from land, it can strike at a target of 10,000km with MIRVed warheads.[1]

The SLBM version of missile is meant for the Arihant class submarines of the Indian Navy.

The program was classified and was never disclosed to public until 2011. However, the DRDO newsletter in May 2011, while describing the profile of one of the recently promoted scientists, revealed that he headed a program named A6 which will be a 10000 km missile with underwater launch and MIRV capabilities. This only confirmed that India is actively working on the Agni-VI ICBM. However, the details were soon removed and a modified version of newsletter was published on DRDO website.

If India can send rockets to the moon and after the success of the recent rocket; it should erase any doubt of ICBM capability. It is more a political decision than a capability issue.

What about development of our citizen, with ATV and good 3000 km missile we can take care of lot of things, plus enemy is near us not very
but if we can send package to moon, dont you think any spot on earth is within our reach.

icbm can be developed with a plan that a Indian naval ship in between pacific can fire the missile onto china.

moreover drdo should now start parallel projects to make missiles more slimmer and deadlier.

IN has no plan to put ballistic missiles in its ships.

A6 could be cancelled but we ll develop a ballistic missile with 10k range. K series is not a true ballistic missile.

    Agni-5 will have MIRV warhead.
