In one report
Length - 16m
Weight - 8 tonnes
Diameter - 1.8m

In another
Length - 17m
Weight - 2200Kg
Diameter - 2m

Which is correct?
Was the 2200Kg supposed to be 22000 Kg?

I think DRDO folks might have said that "8 tons of weight have been reduced" and over exicited jurno took it as "reduced to 8 tons".

I believe its in 18ton class if it had undergone any further weight cut.. Although ET and some others have made it even lighter then Brahmos at 2.2 tons :scared1:.

There is no change in weight, which is still 22 tons or 22000 kgs.
Test was conducted by SFC and was randomly chosen from assembly line and fired with support from DRDO.
It was just a user trial, nothing new.

The weight reduction may possibly be from going from being a liquid fuelled missile to a solid fuelled missile?? Liquid fuelled missiles tend to be a lot heavier. But this is not the first solid fuelled AGNI so there could be an error?

A3 carries a warhead of 2 tons. So an IRBM that carries a 2 ton warhead can't be of 8ton gross weight. So the report of 8 ton A3 is highly unrealistic.

Sounds too good to be true, but remarkable achievement even if weight could have been reduced by 8 tons. Somebody try this remedy on fat kid Arjun also:tongue2:

If rumors are true, High Nitrogen steel & aluminum alloy wheels to be used in MK2 to reduce 6 to 8 tons of weight. But that is a whole different story and I'd like you to go through mk2 thread.

If there was any weight reduction it would significantly increase missile range

That would be a logical conclusion, but what about the payload? Can the new missile still carry the same payload, or will it need additional fuel, thereby offsetting some of the weight reduction?

In either case, it's unlikely that we'll announce an enhanced range for Agni III.
