Much needed development in Afghanistan.:clap2: It seems that US has listed to India and is now taking Afghan issue bit more seriously. This will definitely give jitters to Pak-Russia-Taliban nexus.:shoot:

Hamid Karzai says India is not using Afghanistan against Pakistan
May, 09 2017 17:46:38 IST

Kabul: Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai has refuted what he termed as the Pakistani perception about India's growing influence in Afghanistan.

"Like Pakistan, Afghanistan is an independent country and has the right to have relations with anyone. India is our long-time friend. But I assure Pakistan that no one can use our soil against Pakistan and any other country," Karzai, who served as the longest Afghan President and is still considered as an influential leader, said.

Karzai on Monday told a group of Pakistani journalists in Kabul that he would visit Pakistan after the holy month of Ramadan on the invitation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

"I would love to (play a role for peace). I am hopeful the visit would bring some good results," the Afghan leader said, Daily Times reported. Nawaz Sharif had extended invitation to Karzai last year, which was renewed four times.

"I want to have in-depth discussions with political and military leaders. I will talk to the military... Pakistan and Afghanistan are not enemies, but twins," he said, adding that he would travel to Pakistan as an Afghan national and not as a representative of the government.

"I will ... (make) an appeal to the Pakistani leaders to look at the situation both countries are facing. I will argue that both countries can overcome the problems," he said.

He said he was sad at the casualties on both sides during last week's cross-border shelling along the Chaman border.

The former Afghan President threw weight behind the ongoing regional initiative launched by Russia, in which key regional countries are its members, including China, Pakistan, Iran and India. He said Russia was playing a "peace role" with the help of regional countries.

He lashed out at the US policies in Afghanistan and accused it of introducing the Islamic State phenomena in his war-ravaged country.

To a question about the controversy over the border, the Afghan leader claimed that no government in Afghanistan would recognise the Durand Line.

Kabul blast in Indian embassy, all Indians safe but 50 killed or injured. Pork frustration showing through?

Wow! That was a massive explosion! But I doubt this was the explosion we're talking about. Most probably the MOAB dropped by the US of A a few days ago in Afghanistan.

Several people were killed and dozens were taken to hospitals after a powerful explosion rocked the Afghan capital near the German and Iranian embassies, according to Kabul police, doctors and local journalists.
The precise target of the attack, believed to be a car bomb, was not immediately clear, with many embassies and government buildings located in the same area. TOLOnews reported the exact address of blast site as the 14th Street of the Wazir Akbar Khan neighborhood.

The blast struck at around 8:30am local time Wednesday.

Pajhwok Afghan News reports that “dozens” of people were killed in the blast and more than 100 injured. Earlier, the agency cited the Health Ministry as saying that at least 60 people were hospitalized.

Most victims are thought to be civilians, including employees of a local mobile phone company, Roshan, according to TOLO News.

Basir Mujahid, a spokesman for Kabul police, said the explosion was caused by a car bomb.

"It was a car bomb near the German embassy, but there are several other important compounds and offices near there too. It is hard to say what the exact target is," Mujahid said, as cited by Reuters.

Eyewitnesses on social media said the blast was so strong it shattered all windows in nearby buildings. Some doors were also torn off their hinges, Reuters reported.

Photos posted on Twitter showed a thick pillar of smoke rising from the site of the explosion.

The Indian Embassy reported damage to its facilities but no casualties.

Several journalists tweeted that their offices were damaged in the blast, including Jessica Donati, who writes for the Wall Street Journal, and the BBC’s Kabul bureau manager, Karim Haidari, who said the BBC staff were affected in the blast.

It doesn't seem to be in the mountains and the source of the video is AJT news and also published on Hindustan Times but maybe.

Seems to me that they were not targeting Indian embassy, but the German mission ... considering the event's happened in Manchester, England, they seems to very unhappy with the Europeans.

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure that out! It was the Haqqani network which was responsible which was planned and funded by Paki's ISI.

It close to the German, Iranian and Indian embassy so there are a lot of groups which would conduct such a attack
