it's a typical Pulse-Doppler radar with a planar slot array antenna...

electronical scaning in vertical direction(one-dimensional phase/frequency scanning)
meachanical scanning in horizontal direction

not a fully electronical scaning radar...

@shiphone , can you put up some specs? Estimated radar range and platform endurance would be nice.

on Airshow China 2014, I failed to get a brochure about this project...and I couldn't find that scanned one right now which I have saved, so no solid stuff in my hand at this moment ...but I could gave some spec ranges for reference...

1. the Max detection range is more than 450km(of Saab 2000/Erieye), around 500km-550km for the Air target flying at the medium and high altitudes, but it would be less for the targets at low Altitude...

2. the platform is an improved Y-8 Category III Platform featuring WJ-6C turboprops with 6-blade high efficiency propellers...with a new wet wing design, this platform could carry 20 tons fuel to cover more than 5000 kms... the cruise speed of Y8 serial is around 550km/h. so endurance might be around 8 hours, which is less than the Saab 2000/Erieye's 9.5 hours...at this stage ,this platform has no in-flight refueling ability....
