Uploaded by AegisBMD on Jul 20, 2011

Documentary overview of the first successful, lethal intercept of a short range ballistic missile (SRMB) by USS Lake Erie with a Standard Missile-3 Blk 0 interceptor .

For the first time in a Aegis BMD test event, the mission was performed under real-world operational conditions.

The next mission, FM-6 (Codename: Stellar Defender) was conducted on December 11, 2003. A modification to the SDACS design was implemented so as not to endanger the warhead's ability to intercept. This override allowed the KW to navigate with reduced (but no less lethal) capability. FM-6 once again featured a successful interception. The USS Lake Erie was the firing ship.
