It's the most latest update
Mk1 FOC & Mk1A will have Uttam AESA and DARE's EW suite onboard.
And some more foreign avionics will also get replaced to increase Indigenous content.

That's all...
AESA is NOT part of the MK.1's FOC criteria bro, not even IFR is.

This is the news you were anticipating the most.. here goes

Back to back evaluation of modified Israeli F16 followed by LCA took place for high altitude and extreme cold zone performance and mission efficiency.
Tejas performed better than F16 in our airbase tests. That's confirmed and now on record with IAF again post MMRCA.
Also there was a problem with engine sheat fins getting jammed and a special anti freeze had to be used which is again imported.
The Tejas engine while lower power was able to work after pre heat and heat up cycles.
Now the MK2 development story
A radical proposition is being evaluated -Mk2-S
The Mk2-S is the dual engine variant of Tejas and is said to have a similar wing design as the SE MK2. Essentially it will have more power to boost.
There are tests going on for vectoring right now and seeking advisability to remove those huge radar beacons in the back.
Now new procurements updates
Rules for large plane requirements were passed by the government.
Finalizing rules and then posting the requirements to all the countries for invites is left.
Its now a Grade-A deal which has increased from Grade-C two months ago.

Invite for a formal MII will come to your side soon as official are formally moving.. off the shelf numbers will be jacked up as per the indications as well..

Limited chance left for all foreign OEMs.. whomosver comes will be the one who will design the internal of Mk2-S Tejas variant and will be twin engine powered (targeted Safranised Kaveri)

If Dassualt grabs it then Mk2-S will be mini Rafale

The F16 and Gripen chances are reduced a lot with performance of Tejas....only left is when they will get inducted in large numbers..

How authentic is this report. Seems quite confusing??

Development of LCA twin engine will take at least 4-5 years just to fly a prototype ( and I'm being very generous here because of similarities with LCA airframe.)

Then testing certifications it won't be inducted anywhere before 2027-28.

Will it make any sense then given the Amca will be on horizon.??

It certainly doesn't help iaf squdron numbers in the mid term .

I don't think that there would be a twin engine TEJAS.
If its true that it should be Mirage 4000 renamed as mk2-s with Indigenous content.

IAF needs amca, a medium category VLO fifth gen fighter, in the near future not a twin engine LCA. Twin engine and folding wing version of LCA might suffice for Indian Navy as it no longer favours a single engine NLCA. For that also ADA has to look for a suitable engine. But it would be too late as naval version of AMCA can take its place.

Noob question maybe already asked.

What if any conclusions can we draw from number of test flights each of the LSPs is doing ?

I didn't articulate it right. Does for example LSP3 making lot of flights signify anything vs lets say LSP4 flying a lot?
All these LSPs flight means testing some crucial technologies require for tejas foc. For instance LSP3 flies with Cobham quartz radome and Derby missile in guided mode was fired from LSP4. Rest assured.

I daily hear sounds of LCA flight in Bangalore here. If they are ready, why don't they quickly join the squad of flying daggers and increase the numbers.

I believe it was. Coming from the PM itself, I see no bigger endorsement.

Suck it up all you you anti-Tejas conniving, sneaking, Roosi-Amreeki c0*k-sucking, arse-licking bastards!!!
If i am not wrong A.B vajpayee also mentioned tejas in his independence day speech of 2001 in which he christened it tejas from LCA, can't recollect completely though
