To be frank i thought the assembly hangars for LCA were not up-to-date. I have never visited one but what do folks think???
Once we have it inducted in our force in numbers and we are able to get good orders we will naturally have a good production system.
One follows another! :)

BANGALORE: Engineers and technicians at Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd’s (HAL) LCA-Tejas Division have begun the extremely complex integration of the aerial refueling probe on to the Tejas fighter.
During a visit to the HAL facilities, Mathrubhumi witnessed the fitment tests on the Limited Series Production-8 (LSP-8) variant of Tejas. The air-to-air probe, supplied by UK-based Cobham, is being fixed in front of the canopy and on the right side of the aircraft.

“Once the probe is fixed and structural integration is done, then we will have the ground tests, which will be followed by flight trials. The efficiency of the Flight Control System will also be tested,” says Sridharan.
Mid-air-refueling probe is one of the key parameters HAL-ADA combine need to fulfil, ahead of the Final Operational Clearance. HAL says from the first Tejas MKI-A aircraft onwards (21st fighter in the series production plans), all platforms will be fitted with the air-to-air refueling probe.
“However, if the IAF wishes, then it could enter into a separate contract with HAL, to retro-fit even the first 20 series production variants with these probes,” says an official.

Yes. Air to Air refueling probe fitted.

From picture, it's not clear how much internal work remains. It will need lots of rearrangements.
Fixing the IFR and the GSH cannon will result in large number of changes to the piping,cabling , location of various LRUs . When will a standard production model with all the IAF requirements be brought out ?

Tejas is already with Gsh-23. Standard form of Tejas is Mk1A as of now with IFR and AESA Radar. Expect it to roll out of production line by 2019/ 2020.

Good video for those interested in the Tejas and has some interesting updates:

1) Tandem pylon with tandem bombs tested already

2) 90% by surface area composites - carbon fiber composites help in reducing RCS

3) Discussion on the belief that the Tejas is underpowered.

Balaji states that "I believe, in some sense that ADA has been a culprit in understating, the performance of this airplane. that probably is the cause for these statements that the airplane is underpowered"..

but he states that the program has achieved many milestones this year where the airplane has performed much better than anticipated because the predictions were a little conservative because its being done for the first time..and then goes on to give the example of the recent high altitude hot and high tests for the Tejas twin seater. 28-29 deg C, from Leh (10,682 ft above sea level). The Tejas trainer took off with 2 pilots, 2 X 1000 lbs bombs, 2 X 1000 ltr drop tanks and 2 X R-73 dummy rounds in less than the expected distance, fully loaded, with enough spare margin.

4) Optimizing to get the maximum possible g and angle of attack performance from the jet currently. Claimed to be the most unstable aircraft in the world and performance claimed to be comparable to any airplane of its class.

5) Air chief for the first time ever, flew the Tejas trainer from the back seat without having been in a simulator before. He was so comfortable that he took over controls during take off (against the script for that sortie) and pulled 4.5-5 G maneuvers loving every aspect of it. It is a testimony of its ease to fly.

One thing more which I liked in this programe is the mention of Auto Swing role capability of Tejas. No where by any means Tejas is less mean then any other contemporary modern fighters :):india:

How long will this be? Also what about the integration of these new items into the Tejas naval fighter aircraft ?since the naval fighter is more complex with issues related to carrier operation and marine environment

Tejas - LCA facebook webpage says, SP5 & SP6 is schedule to be delivered by June 2017.

It's still turning to rate of only 4 LCA per year.
What is GAL doing to increase the rate of production of LCA???
We need at least 1 squadron every year.

Producing 1 squadron (18 fighters) each year is no mean feat even for Boeing and LM. Challenge is not in rolling out fighters from production line. From cone to tail, one fighter could be developed in a minimum time frame of 2 months, but it would need another 2 to 3 months to carry out ground and flight tests of each and every system and subsystem. Means anyway it would need a timeline of minimum 5 months for any fighter to be operational ready.
Now if you want to bring this number up, you need more and more production line. But HAL is planning for only two production line as far as news go. It means with full efficiency, it could roll out only 8 crafts per year at max with current pace of 1 fighter in three months. You want to increase that, build up more production line, but then its cost would go up considerably.
