NEW DELHI: Arvind Kejriwal's party was today named Aam Admi Party at a meeting of its founder members here during which the Constitution for the organisation was also adopted.
The meeting of around 300 founder members was held at Constitution Club during which Kejriwal proposed the name of the party which was accepted by other members, sources said.

The Constitution of the party was also adopted at the meeting. It was proposed by Mayank Gandhi and seconded by Chandramohan, they said.

The formation of the party came after a bitter split with Anna Hazare over the question of the anti-corruption movement taking a political plunge as Kejriwal desired.

During the August fast, Hazare and Kejriwal ended the agitation saying they will work for providing a political alternative for the country to fight both Congress and BJP.

However, both Hazare and Kejriwal announced parting of ways on September 19 following differences over forming a party with the former sticking to his position that the movement should remain apolitical.

On October two, Kejriwal announced the formation of the party saying its official launch will be on November 26, the day Constitution was adopted in 1949.

Ahead of the meeting, Kejriwal said today that common men, women, children are forming their party.

"They are not politicians. They are fed up of politicians. They are the people who are fed up of corruption and price rise. This is why the common man has decided to challenge them. Now the common man will sit in Parliament.

"Party's vision is Swaraj. People should get the 'raj'. That vision will be finalized. 25-30 issues will be discussed which all issues need to be taken first by the party. Committees will be formed. They will make drafts in four-five months. There will discussions through the country," he said.

Activist Yogendra Yadav said that the party will have provisions against domination by one family.

The meeting also saw some disagreement among a section of workers who were not allowed to attend it. A group from Tamil Nadu was seen arguing with a party coordinator on why they were not accommodated.

'Aam Aadmi' Party reflects intellectual bankruptcy of Kejriwal: Digvijay Singh

Ridiculing Arvind Kejriwal's 'Aam Aadmi' Party, AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh on Sunday accused the activist turned politician of adopting Congress party's theme to name his political outfit.

"It reflects the intellectual bankruptcy of Kejriwal," Singh told reporters in Bhubaneswar, while replying a question on the use of word "Aam Aadmi".

"Let Mr Kejriwal first get elected as an MP or MLA or even a municipal corporator," the AICC leader who was in Bhubaneswar to attend a function of All India Kshatriya Federation (AIKF) said, criticising the Kejriwal's political party.

Replying to a question on the Congress's B team in Odisha, Singh said "Let Mr Naveen Patnaik and Mr (Pyarimohan) Mohapatra decided what are they."

Both, the ruling BJD led by Naveen Patnaik and Odisha Jan Morcha (OJM), had been accusing each other as the "B" team of Congress.

'Aam Aadmi' Party reflects intellectual bankruptcy of Kejriwal: Digvijay Singh - India - DNA

    ***********************

It has to be good old Digvijay to nitpick since he has soiled his trouser out of panic.

I wouldn't be surprised that the US Congress may take a leaf from Digvijay and say that the Congress Party is intellectually bankrupt by stealing their copyright!

Even Mango People of a Banana Republic is the sole copyright of the Congress and their brood.

Childish but it does steal the thunder from the false sloganeering that is the forte of the Congress and its sycophants.

Frankly, the name for a political party Am Admi is so bland and juvenile and so I wonder how it can turn the pants yellow of seasoned politicians, who albeit are desperate to find their limelight.

Could not even think of an original name. Such a blithering idiot this Kejriwal turned out to be.
The only place he will be getting any votes is in USA where his sponsors lie.

The manifesto is interesting, but can it be applied?

It is too sugary and idealistic!

Appears to be a non starter.

Neat way of Kejriwal to keep needling!

Enough of these corrupt parties running this country.

It is high time that institutions of governance be made independent of political expediencies.

Govt. is spending huge money for education. But most IITians and other productive people are working abroad and some of them even have citizenship in foreign countries. The worst part is some IITians like Kejriwal who entered politics are not doing any good for science and technology. We have never seen Kejriwal encouraging scientists. But we have seen him protesting against nuclear power plants eventhough our great scientists like Abdul Kalam have done many research in that sector. He should have atleast encouraged companies to invest more money here so that more IITians can prove their skills here and contribute to our society. We have more lawyers in politics than from any other profession. But we still need lawyers who encourage scientists to do inventions and convince people that those inventions are good for our society. We don't need IITians like Kejriwal who try to spread ideas of lawyers like Prashant Bhushan. We don't need lawyers like Prashant Bhushan who brainwash people and make them believe that inventions done by our great scientists are harmful to our society.

Exactly. What a waste of national time and money Kejriwal turned out to be, especially after launching his party. Making illegal electrical connections, promoting socialism, protesting against nuclear power, making accusations against all without drawing them to any conclusion, and finally, launching a party with a lame name. His party is for common idiots, by common idiots, of common idiots.

No indian is "aam" every single Indian is unique and has potential. When a party calls its electorate Aam, one has to understand their depth of thinking is really not deep at all.

Sir, do you seriously think Kejriwal would do that if he comes to power? What guarantee is there that he won't be another Congress or Bjp or worse still, Cpm?
We must not be swayed by his bluster. Even Rahul baba gives a lot of bluster, but what did he ever achieve?

This party (Aam Aadmi ) is full of socialist jholawalas. Why don't they merge with CPM ? Arvind style of working is similar to Communist Leaders. One of the member (Sandip Pandey) of Arvind's team is running a signature campaign called as "Save Afzal Guru". Then we have people like Bhusan who supports Maoist and Kashmir separatist. This party will just try to pull down the rich, to the level of the poor. However, They will keep poor as poor as they neither have any policy nor interest. So, All poor and equality ?
