It's the triumph of uniting india as one nation after it's birth rather then a fragmented on which, is what would have happened. When giant's such as he accomplished so much, trying to compare him with mayawati is unfair .

After all when one is in power and builds monuments for there achievements it's an abuse of power, but when others choose to honour you .So many years after your death it's a genuine sense of appreciation for your work.

Its really strange that the iron man that he was who firmly got those who were not willing to join the Indian union into India, backed down in front of Nehru.

In fact, Sardar was right in his assessment of Tibet as well and how India should form a policy towards it in light of Chinese plans to take over tibet. Alas, Nehru prevailed upon him in this instance as well.

Sardar Patel's Letter to Jawaharlal Nehru (7 November 1950) | Friends of Tibet (INDIA)

    T
remendous foresight and a great reader of geo politics so unlike nehru who was in his own world. He read the Chinese intentions and fake promises of friendship from day one.

Nehru was rich, ambitious, arrogant and most of all selfish. He would not have thought for a second before tearing apart Congress and sending a fragile country into anarchy. This is what Gandhi feared and exactly why he asked Iron Man to back down from already won PM seat. After Gandhi's death this fear probably passed on to Sardar Patel and nobody knows when it became acceptable as anything. J L Nehru is sum of all blunders in post British Bharat.
