5 fishermen from TN injured in attack by SL Navy
Rameswaram, May 9 (PTI) Five fishermen from Tamil Nadu sustained injuries when they were attacked allegedly by Sri Lankan Navy personnel while fishing off Dhanushkodi, officials said here today.
Their fishing nets and catch were also taken away by the Lankan Navy personnel, they said, adding, all the injured have been discharged from a hospital here.
The incident occurred last night between Dhanushkodi and Katchathivu, an islet ceded to Sri Lanka by India.
The fishermen, who claim they were fishing in Indian waters during the incident, were part of a group of about 500 fishermen who had put out to sea in 300 boats last week, they added
