27 Indian Army troops have been killed in ceasefire violations across the Line of Control (LOC) in the last ten years

Army as 217 personnel were killed in India and 14 were killed outside the country in UN peacekeeping and other operations.

The Navy also suffered a loss of 89 personnel inside the country while one person lost his life outside

Around 20 Indian soldiers missing from border areas, especially Jammu and Kashmir: RTI

A score of Indian soldiers posted in the border areas of the country, most of them in Jammu and Kashmir, have gone missing from 1996 to 2010, says an RTI reply.

According to the reply given by the Ministry of External Affairs, 18 soldiers went missing from Jammu and Kashmir while two disappeared from Gujarat.
