The encounter began early morning today after security forces received a tip off that the terrorists were hiding in the Hajin village. The Army, the Central Reserve Police Force or CRPF and the Jammu and Kashmir police jointly carried out a cordon cum search operation operation. The security forces combing the area in the village came under heavy fire after which they retaliated, the police said. After a 12-hour long gun battle, the security forces destroyed the house in which the terrorist were holed up with an IED. Police sources said that the terrorists were operating in Bandipore district for the last four months and the encounter was a major success for the security forces in the area.
