2012 bypoll: Setback for BJP, Congress wins in Karnataka and Gujarat.

In a setback to the ruling BJP in Karnataka, the Congress today wrested the Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha seat from it with party candidate K Jayaprakash Hegde emerging victorious in the bypoll by a margin of 45,724 votes.

Meanwhile, the Congress won the Assembly bypoll in the BJP bastion of Mansa in Gujarat.

Hegde, a former minister, defeated his nearest BJP rival V Sunil Kumar in a loss of face to BJP as the constituency was represented by D V Sadananda Gowda before becoming the Chief Minister.

Hegde secured 3,98,723 votes as against 3,52,999 by Sunil Kumar.

The electoral loss for BJP comes at time when the party is in a turmoil following the revolt led by B S Yeddyurappa for his reinstatement as chief minister.

Don't think BJP will be defeated in Gujarat(only due to Modi),but BJP will surely loose Karnataka.

Yeddyurappa with his antics will surely be the end of BJP in Karnataka.

In Mansa Caste Politics cost BJP the seat.

There are two group of patel castes and one OBC.

The patels were fighting within themselves and their votes splitted and the OBC became united due to murder of one of the person and they voted for Khan-gress.

BJP wins election in Mahbub Nagar inspite of efforts by the Jamat-e-Islami/urdu Media to influence the election in favor of Syed Ibrahim.

There are many reasons why one fails to win an election.

It is the wise man who ensures that his votes are not split or squandered since the bottomline is winning and nothing more!
