MUMBAI: A sessions court on Wednesday sentenced 5 bomb planters to death in the 2006 Mumbai serial train blasts.

The other seven accused were sentenced to life in jail.

The prosecution had sought death for eight people.

Serial blasts on the suburban local trains on July 11, 2006, killed at least 188 people and left over 800 injured.

The convicts for whom death was sought were- Kamal Ahamed Ansari, Dr Tanvir Ahmed Ansari, Mohammed Faisal Shaikh, Ehtesham Siddiqui, Shaikh Alam Shaikh, Mohammed Sajid Ansari, Naved Hussain Khan and Asif Khan.

I was living in Mumbai at that time. I used to be a commuter on Borivali-Churchgate line and held a first class pass. Most of the bombs were on first class coaches. Luckily, I took the bus on that day.

I say don't show mercy. Hang them.
