2002 Gujarat riots: 21 convicted in Dipda Darwaza riots case, 61 acquitted

    AHMEDABAD: Sixty one people on Monday were acquitted in the 2002 Dipda Darwaza riots case including two politicians Prahlad Gosa and Dahyabhai Patel.

    No murder and conspiracy charges were proved.

    But twenty one people were convicted under attempt to murder and rioting. In a first, police inspector MK Patel has been convicted for deleriction of duty. He was arrested in 2010 by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

    Eleven people were killed in the 2002 Dipda Darwaza communal incident.

    Though people say "Justice delayed is justice denied" but I think even if delayed, Justice is still better than injustice.
