I notice where the Taliban just cut the heads off of two children in Afganstan, nothing would make me happier then set back an watch those people wallow in their own misery and filth. As far as I am concerned if the Taliban and Militants take back over the people there deserve every thing they get for allowing it.

Pakistan blasphemy case: Muslim cleric arrested for allegedly planting evidence

Islamabad: Pakistani police have arrested a Muslim cleric on suspicion of planting evidence against a Christian girl accused of blasphemy, officers said on Sunday.

Rimsha has been in custody since she was arrested in a poor Islamabad suburb more than two weeks ago accused of burning papers containing verses from the Quran, in breach of Pakistan's strict blasphemy laws.

Hafiz Mohammed Khalid Chishti, the imam of the mosque in Rimsha's poor area of Islamabad who first handed over evidence was arrested on Saturday after his assistants told a magistrate he had added pages from the Koran to the burned pages to strengthen the case against the girl.

"(Hafiz Mohammed Khalid Chishti) was arrested after his deputy Maulvi Zubair and two others told a magistrate he added pages from the Quran to the burnt pages brought to him by a witness," police investigator Munir Hussain Jaffri told AFP.

Rimsha must wait until at least Monday to learn if she will be given bail, after a judge adjourned her case on Saturday amid doubts over legal paperwork.

A medical report last week said she has a mental age of less than 14.

So, the cleric committed blasphemy too, by tearing the Quran.

Yeah, ultimate irony.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani authorities have arrested a Muslim cleric on suspicion of framing a Christian girl who was arrested under the country's controversial anti-blasphemy law, a police official said on Sunday.

Religious and secular groups worldwide have protested over the detention in August of Rimsha Masih, accused by Muslim neighbours of burning Islamic religious texts.

Police official Munir Hussain Jafri said a cleric was arrested after witnesses from Masih's village on the edge of the capital Islamabad complained about his alleged actions.

"Witnesses complained that he had torn pages from a Quran and placed them in her bag which had burned papers," Jafri told Reuters.

The cleric, Khalid Jadoon, appeared briefly in court on Sunday before he was sent to jail for a 14-day judicial remand.

A bail hearing will be held on Monday for Masih, whose case has re-focused a spotlight on Pakistan's anti-blasphemy law.

Under the law, anyone who speaks ill of Islam and the Prophet Mohammad commits a crime and faces the death penalty.

Activists and human rights groups say vague terminology has led to its misuse, and that the law dangerously discriminates against the Muslim country's tiny minority groups.

Critics of Pakistan's leaders say they are too worried about an extremist backlash to speak out against the law in a nation where religious conservatism is increasingly prevalent.

Convictions are common, although the death sentence has never been carried out. Most convictions are thrown out on appeal, but mobs have killed many people accused of blasphemy.

There have been conflicting reports about Masih's age and her mental state. Some media have said she is 11 and suffers from Down's Syndrome.

A hospital said in a report she was about 14 but had the mental capacities of someone younger, and was uneducated.

Masih's arrest triggered an exodus of several hundred Christians from her poor village after mosques reported over their loudspeakers what the girl was alleged to have done.

Christians, who make up four percent of Pakistan's population of 180 million, have been especially concerned about the blasphemy law, saying it offers them no protection.

Convictions hinge on witness testimony and are often linked to vendettas, they complain.

In 2009, 40 houses and a church were set ablaze by a mob of 1,000 Muslims in the town of Gojra, in Punjab province. At least seven Christians were burned to death. The attacks were triggered by reports of the desecration of the Quran.

Two Christian brothers accused of writing a blasphemous letter against the Prophet Mohammad were gunned down outside a court in the eastern city of Faisalabad in July of 2010.

Pak blasphemy case: Bail bonds for Christian girl submitted

A day after a young, mentally- challenged Christian girl accused of blasphemy was granted bail, surety bonds of Rs10 lakh were today submitted at a Pakistani court, paving the way for her release in the case that has sparked an international outcry.

Rights activists said Rimsha, currently being held in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, is expected to be released later in the day after the completion of some paperwork.

The additional district and sessions judge had granted bail to Rimsha yesterday against two bonds of Rs five lakh each. She could not be freed yesterday as the court's order reached police after office hours.

Rimsha's relatives and lawyers are expected to go Adiala Jail to submit documents and take her away.

Tight security arrangements were put in place at the jail, where high-profile terror suspects like the Mumbai attacks accused are also being held.

The next hearing of Rimsha's case will be held in the middle of this month.

The court has directed the Islamabad police chief to appoint a capable officer to investigate her case.

Rimsha was arrested from the low-income Islamabad suburb of Mehria Jaffar on August 16 on charges of burning papers containing verses from the Quran.

She was charged under Pakistan's harsh blasphemy laws.

The case against her collapsed after a man told police that the imam of the mosque in Rimsha's neighbourhood had planted evidence that was used to implicate her.

The imam was subsequently arrested.

An official medical board that examined Rimsha concluded that she was about 14 years old and that her mental development did not correspond to her age.

An NGO named 'Christians in Pakistan' had earlier reported on its website that the girl has 'Down Syndrome'.

Rights groups have warned that Pakistan's controversial law is often used to settle personal scores or persecute minorities like Christians.

Last year, Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer and Minority Affairs Minister Shahbaz Bhatti, a Christian, were gunned down by extremists after they criticised the blasphemy law.

The case, which prompted concern from the West and the Vatican, also focussed attention once again on Pakistan's harsh blasphemy law, under which a person can be punished with life in prison or death.

Pakistan has independent Judiciary. The girl committed an offence and was charge sheet (FIR lodged). The present position is that she has been released on bail. What do you think "What Extremist Means" US and its partners (self proclaimed civilized nations) are killing innocent men, women and children in Pakistan and Afghanistan only because they are not ready to practice western values. The drones, missile attacks and other tactics have killed over 1.5 million people in these countries. Some of them were killed because they abused US by SMS and Internet chatting. Please compare the case of Christian girl accused of blasphemy and Muslims who are targeted and butchered every day without trial.

US can twist Pakistan's tail to include a helicopter for the girl's safety.

But India cannot stop forcible conversion, rape and kidnapping of minorities in Pakistan!

What offence?

A sharia offence?

Why should a non Moslem care for the Sharia?

There is just one issue that you might like to answer.

Why must Islamic Law be applied to non Muslims in Pakistan and elsewhere?

Why do you demand Islamic way of life in non Islamic nations like UK, France etc?

What if they also force you all to cut your billy goat beard and throw your chador and burkha and hizab down the drain and force their ways on you?

Would the be par for the course for you all?

After all, what is sauce for the goose should be sauce for the gander!

. . . . The girl committed an offence and was charge sheet (FIR lodged). . . .
The girl was falsely implicated by the bloodthirsty Mullahs of Pakistan that you Pakistanis so venerate .

and the Taliban sympathisers like yourself have been vying for her blood .

'Pak Christian blasphemy girl did not leave her home on day of incident'

Islamabad: Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said Rimsha Masih, the minor Christian girl accused of blasphemy, had not left her home on the day of the incident.

While presenting the progress report in the Masih case to the Senate, Malik also said that the district magistrate, Islamabad, is carrying out the inquiry into the case.

He further said the Ulema of Islamabad Council are also a part of the inquiry as observers, the Daily Times reports.

Malik verified the arrest of local cleric Khalid Jadoon on charges of tampering with the evidence to make the case "stronger" against Rimsha.

He also said that as per the medical board, 'Rimsha's age is 14 years, but her mental age is around seven to eight years'.
"The police had taken Rimsha into protective custody and had transferred her to a safer place after she was accused on August 16," Malik added.

Pakistan blasphemy girl in dramatic prison release by helicopter

The world caught its first glimpse of Rimsha Masih, the young Christian girl arrested for blasphemy in Pakistan, as she was released from the high-security prison where she was jailed for three weeks.

Her head was hooded as she was bundled from an armoured personnel carrier into a helicopter to fly her from Adiala prison in Rawalpindi to a secret location where her family was waiting.

Heavily armed police stood guard amid fears that religious hard-liners would try to take the law into their own hands.
Once inside the helicopter Rimsha lifted off the hood to reveal a tired and very frightened face.
Her parents say she is 11 years of age although a medical report concluded she was 14 but with a lower mental age.

Jailing such a young and vulnerable girl has been deeply embarrassing for Pakistan, bringing international condemnation and exposing the way the country's minorities face persecution.

On Friday a judge ordered her release on bail after witnesses came forward to say they had seen a Muslim cleric planting pages of the Koran in ashes she was carrying.

She still faces an uncertain future after leaving the anonymity of prison.
Not only must her lawyers now apply for the charges to be dropped, but she will have to remain under armed guard - perhaps for the rest of her life.

Blasphemy cases attract hysterical attention. Judges have been assassinated for finding defendants not guilty and freed suspects have been killed after their release.
Last night Paul Bhatti, Pakistan's minister for national harmony, said she had been taken to a secure location.

"She has been freed from the jail and was transported by a helicopter to a safe place. Her family members received her," he said.

Pak blasphemy case: Christian girl moved to undisclosed place

ISLAMABAD: A young, mentally-challenged Christian girl accused of blasphemy has been moved from the police headquarters in the Pakistani capital to an undisclosed location for security reasons, days after she was granted bail in the controversial case that has sparked international concern.
14-year-old Rimsha Masih, who was granted bail by a court here on Friday, was moved from the Police Lines HQ to an undisclosed location within the country last night, sources said today.

She and her family had been kept at the police headquarters after she was released from the high-security Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Saturday.

Tight security arrangements were made for transporting Rimsha to another city from the women's barracks at the police headquarters.

There was speculation last night that Rimsha and her family would be flown out of Pakistan but Christian leader Paul Bhatti, Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Harmony, said the girl and her family had not left the country.

Bhatti told the media that Rimsha and her family had been moved to a "safe place selected by the authorities."

A police officer said police had recorded two statements of the girl.

The first was recorded at a police station soon after she was arrested on August 16 and the second at Adiala Jail.

In the first statement, she admitted to burning some pages of a religious text but in the second she denied having done so, the unnamed officer was quoted as saying by Dawn newspaper.
