Chinese president Hu said on the SCO summit that Chinese would provide 10 billion USD easy loan to other members SCO.

it is reported that the loan will be used to "stabilize the economy of other members and smooth the common proserity of SCO"

IMO, china now is waving checkbooks again to earn more economy leverages.

But I don't agee to it ,unless the receiver of loan can give China some "repays" like mine or oil.

    ??????????????????????????

Well, China wants to off-load its dollar burden onto other countries in expectation of some natural resources. I wonder, why China doesn't provide the same loans in Yuan when it no longer wants to trade with other countries in dollar but prefers in Yuan..

Badguy, please provide links to reports in english not in chinese. We don't know mandarin. :sun_bespectacled:

sorry, I still has not find any report on it in english...

Indeed, "USD for resource" is a good way to offload dollar burden.

for time being .loan in Yuan is not feasible ,because Yuan still is not freely exchanged.

VOA News - China Offers Neighbors $10-Billion Credit

    China Offers Neighbors $10-Billion Credit
    By Peter Fedynsky
    Moscow
    16 June 2009

China is offering a $10-billion credit to help members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization overcome the global economic crisis. President Hu Jintao made the proposal at the SCO Summit in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg, where a focus on economic issues has been accompanied by concern over terrorism and drug crime emanating from Afghanistan.

China's President Hu Jintao told the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Yekaterinburg that energy, transportation and telecommunications projects need to be accelerated to secure the financial and economic stability of member states.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization groups Russia, China and the Central Asian republics of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

President Hu also noted unemployment and liquidity problems and offered SCO members a $10-billion credit as China's contribution to their struggle against the global economic crisis.

Summit host Dmitri Medvedev called for new standards to regulate international financial markets and institutions. He again urged creation of new international reserve currencies, saying the global system cannot be successful if it relies on the U.S. dollar. The Russian leader also noted the need for cooperation in such areas as energy, trade, food production, and security.

Mr. Medvedev says the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has agreed to cooperate in the establishment of anti-terrorist units and ways to secure international information systems. He adds that work in these areas will continue.

The Russian president said summit leaders were also concerned about recent threatening statements regarding use of nuclear weapons by North Korea, which he called unacceptable.

Speaking as an observer, Afghan President Hamid Karzai acknowledged concerns voiced by permanent SCO members about the threat of drugs and terrorism his country poses to their security. He said these problems are tied to 30 years of war and instability in Afghanistan.

Another observer, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, aimed his remarks at the United States, saying instability in what he referred to as occupied Afghanistan, Iraq and the Palestinian territories effects not only neighboring countries, but the entire world. He said America is gripped by economic and political crises for which there is no hope for a solution.

Mr. Ahmadinejad made no mention of massive demonstrations that erupted in his country following his disputed re-election. Reacting to the controversy, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said the vote was an internal affair of the Iranian people. President Dmitri Medvedev canceled a planned meeting with the Iranian leader, citing a tight schedule.

The SCO Summit agenda also covered such issues as energy, trade, food production and health, in particular ways to combat infectious disease, epidemics and pandemics.

Right now USA and the West do not know what to make of SCO and hope it collapses in the future but as more money and more countries become involved this has the potential to be a rival that dwarf's NATO. The wetern nations and NATO with declining debt ridden economies against a high growth, high resources, energy base will make a formidable rival, for now India should remain active with SCO as not much is there to gain from the other side.

How about joining the thing and helping make a pig's breakfast of it all ?? I mean, obviously if the SCO survives it will be China's mouthpiece and do Chinese bidding... so, wouldn't it be better if we got in and then scuttled it from the inside ???

for time being, Russia and China are running for the leadership of SCO.

Until Russian is make tame, CHina will not make SCO expanded ,I think.

China just wants to show the world that " come on! follow me,you can get enough carrots"

How will you plan to "tame" Russia? And what does that even mean?

when the agenda of SCO is concerned ,Russia had different idea.

Russia wants SCO to be another " Warsaw pact" , a useful tool to resist west coutries led by USA.

China just wants SCO to be another "NAFTA" led by China and lest center Asia and Russia the stable supply of raw resource/market of industry products.

China has two ways to take over the sole leader of SCO:

    1. "tame russia'. make Russia give up and admit the leadership of CHina.

2." Marginalize Russia" : in a simple word, wave checknote ,lure most members of SCO to stand by China and minimize the influnce of Russia.

in fact, CHinese would rather make friends with Yankees than Russian,

    for:

    1. Russia is neighbour while USA is far aways....
if there are two tiger in one forest at the same time, the forest is always too crowded.
if there two powerful countries are in one mainland at the same time, the mainland is too crowded too.

    2. Russian can never be trusted for ever, because they were too hunger for land-grabbing.
almost every neighbours of Russia were invaded once by Russian .

fairly speaking, USA has a better record ,as for it.

Just somewhere else on this forum, I read that the Chinese were ganging up with the Russians to tame the US. That's why China is going all cozy with the Russians, getting the black gold, and the hi tech weaponry from it.

They're actually doing the exact opposite. All signs from the US signify that they're trying to get cozy with China (G2 proposal, etc.)
