054 A Frigates under batch production

Pictures show a new hull of 054A frigates in shipyard, besides the 13 in service 054As, multiple hulls are built in different shipyards.

PLA Navy gives very positive feedback of these frigates, increased their order with a big number.

Built and Launched in different shipyards, these 054A are badly needed to replace the aging jiangwei and jianghu classes.

Soon to enlisted 572 Liuzhou

Some of the combat and patrol roles of traditional frigates will be taken over by these new light frigates, type 056s are also under batch production now.

Another new hull of 056 finished sea trial and came back to its dork.

I have to admit I'm jealous of the speed with which the Chinese can mass produce.
I also think their strategy of producing a large number of affordable,light yet heavily capable platforms allows them more flexibility than the IN. I dont know why the IN is so insistent on 6200 ton frigates, particularly when the CAG report points out that the shortfall in our surface ship requirements is as high as 50%
