I was just saying that there are missiles much smaller and lighter than Brahmos but with comparable performance. As far as Brahmos, atleast in the public domain it's range will remain at 290 km or 299.99km. Whichever makes us happy.

Might be just the graphics. The real model will tell us the dimensions

Is there a land launched version of the ASMP ? There isn't one single missile comparable to the Brahmos outside Russia/India.

    Hi,
Does any one know what will be the unit cost of Nirbhay . i am just comparing this with tomahawk here, this is way to costly.

Source: Cruise missile - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In 2011, it was estimated that a single Tomahawk cruise missile costs $830,000 (£500,000).[1]

This impression is either of target drone version or it just another FORCE's famed imagination. You can't fire a cruise missiles from tube whose engine is placed outside fuselage. Just hope they keep promise and test NIRBHAY this April and rest all speculation.

India to testfire Nirbhay cruise missile in April
    English.news.cn 2012-03-07 16:06:12
NEW DELHI, March 7 (Xinhua) -- India is likely to testfire its indigenously developed new sub-sonic cruise missile Nirbhay next month, sources said Wednesday.

"The Defense Research and Development Organization has made the missile which can travel at a sub-sonic speed that is less than the speed of sound. It will be testfired in April," the sources said.

Nirbhay, India's equivalent of America's long-range Tomahawk, is a two-stage, surface-to-surface missile which can carry multiple payloads and engage several targets. It has a range of nearly 1,000 km.

Nirbhay will be a terrain hugging, stealthy missile capable of delivering 24 different types of warheads depending on mission requirements and will use an inertial navigation system for guidance.

"It will supplement Indo-Russian made BrahMos supersonic cruise missile in the sense that it would enable delivery of warheads farther than the 300 km range of BrahMos," the sources added.

Hope they don't get carried away in A-V euphoria and postpone the test.

that is exactly what i thought when i saw this pic for the first time, but when some info came about the Nirbhy this was the most likely candidate.

India's Tomahawk-like long range cruise missile Nirbhay is expected to be test-fired for the first time in July-August this year, according to the Dr V.G. Sekaran, director of the Advanced Systems Lab (ASL) at DRDO.

This will be, without a doubt, the most significant weapon test since, perhaps, the Agni-III. The Nirbhay, shrouded in secrecy for long, is understood to be a two-stage high subsonic cruise missile with loitering capabilities. Sources suggest that apart from the engine (apparently supplied by NPO Saturn), the rest of the system is fully indigenous.

Indian private sector giant Tata revealed recently that it was building the vehicle [PDF] that will be the carrier/launcher for the Nirbhay system. The Nirbhay will be based on the "indigenous high mobility, all-terrain and all-wheel drive Tata LPTA 5252-12 X12 vehicle", developed in partnership with DRDO.

After Agni-V, Nirbhay on test bed | Deccan Chronicle
    .
    .
After the successful launch of Agni-V, the nation can look forward to the first flight test of the indigenously developed subsonic cruise missile Nirbhay.

Avinash Chander, chief controller (missiles and strategic systems), Defence Research and Development Organisation, while speaking to this newspaper, said that although the exact date for the first flight test of Nirbhay is yet to be decided, it would definitely be sometime later this year.
Officials at the Defence Research and Development Organisation disclosed that Nirbhay has a range of 750 km to 1,000 km and its first flight test will be launched from the Integrated Test Range at Balasore in Odisha. Nirbhay is capable of carrying nearly two dozen different warheads as per the requirements in the field and can be launched from multiple platforms including air, land and sea. It is a two stage missile being developed by Aeronautical Development Establishment of Defence Research and Development Organisation.
Nirbhay uses an inertial navigation system for guidance and is capable of choosing one particular target amongst multiple targets.
So far only Su-30 MKI has been equipped with Brahmos supersonic cruise missile and Astra medium-range air-to-air missile. Sources said that this subsonic cruise missile will be inducted into all the three defence forces: the Army, Navy and Air Force.
The air-launched version of Nirbhay for Su-30MKI aircraft of the Indian Air Force, would further accentuate the range and strike capability. Specifically designed for Su-30 MKI, this cruise missile is equipped with ‘loitering’ capabilities and is going to enhance the Indian/Russian BrahMos supersonic cruise missile by covering more distance.
Except for its engine, Nirbhay has been developed indigenously. Sources also disclosed that the Tatas are building the carrier or launch vehicle for Nirbhay.
