In theory and even that in parts. Are you oblivious to the fact of the existence of the 72 sects and only one will go to Jannat and the Eastern vs Western rift in Christianity that has further degenerated into a whole fish market of denominations and each claiming they are the better ?
And again do you deny the exstence of caste in Islam and Christianity in India ? Heard of Ashrafs and Ajlafs ?
Look, you are confusing the official British govt stand and policies with the ideas the British rule generated over us. Yes, I agree that the Upper castes used the Brits to take advantage of caste system even more, but what triggered the reformation and enlightenment about the caste sytem in the first place?
Buddha? Sri Adi Shankaracharya? Guru Nanak(hell the Indian Society has even corrupted the Sikh religion)
In the past you were not born in a particular caste. You became of a said caste depending on your orientation. Why did Hindustan progress? Because there was a clear division of labour. Even Bhagwan Shri Krishna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra told Arjun he was not a Kshyatria until he did his duty by fighting.
1. I can change the Religion when i want. Can i change my caste?
2. Infedelism is not equal to caste system. Infedelism is related to belief, which i can change, but caste system is equal to whom i was born to, which i cant change.
3. I never said I respect them a lot, but one of the few good things of those religions. While those religions suppressed the other people, Hinduism suppressed its own people.
4. Again, look at how much the Indian society has corrupted the Religions Christianity and Islam with their caste.
The caste system might or might not have been worse , but the idea that the caste system was evil was first "re-introduced " because of the Western education
Officially yes, but on the societal level? The role the British played(directly or indirectly) in the generation of ideas, regarding the evils of casteism?
Finally- if you all are so defiant in your position that the Western school of education brought by the British had no impact in removing the caste system or something like that, i would like to know what in fact did trigger the reformation of Indian Society?
Were they responsible for the reformation of the Modern India? Then no, I cant take them as a "could have been scenerio" of abolishment of casteism.
Sorry, But do answer what actually triggered the fall of caste Discrimination in the society if not the British system of education?, Again Dont say it was re-visit to the Buddhism/jainism and Nanak Ji et al
Reform of caste system in India was started by Phule ,carried forward by Narayanaguru and Baba Walangkar.Periyar took the struggle to the masses and it took a rigorous turn and Ambedhkar gave ht a cörtitutiöal 3rame work
Sir, come on, I am not talking about mythic ages, but about the Medival ages of India when the caste system and discrimination was based on birth and not by verna.
Again, you can answer this question, If not for the British, what triggered the reformation of the "Modern" Indian Society wrt castes?
1) That was what caste system was meant to be in Theory. Since you respect the "theoretical" positions in Islam and Xtianity, why not respect the "theoretical" position of Caste system also ? Hypocrisy ?
2) Why should you change to get rid of the tag "infidel" ? Why not people are accepted as equal irrespective of their belief ? In effect you are doing the "good taliban".."bad taliban" here.
3) LOL...you do not know history...Muslims and Xtians did not suppress their own ? Really ? What is the Sunnis blowing up the Shias then, for instance.
4) Is their faith then so brittle so as to be "damaged" by a primitive paganistic religion and its beliefs ? Looks like you are respecting the wrong religions.
What makes you think it might not have been "re-introduced" even in the absence of the Brits ?
Careful - I'm saying Brits while you say Western education. They are different. The presence of Brits is not necessary for Western education
If you "cannot take it" it doesn't mean it is not so. What you "can take" or "cannot take", I can't help.
The point I'm making is the innate ability to reform and evolve has always been in the Indian mind - as exemplified by Buddha, Adi Shankara or Guru Nanak - and it is that ideal/ability that is responsible for the decline in caste discrimination.
Saudis also have Western education, Infact percapita I heard there are more Saudis abroad studying than Indians.. but they dont let their women drive. What failed there ?
