Islamic rule will help curb political assassinations, communal riots and other violent crimes in India, says Kanthapuram Abubaker

A prominent Indian Muslim scholar has asked the nation to introduce Shariah laws to curb growing number of political assassinations, communal riots and other violent crimes in the country.

Kanthapuram AP Abubaker Musaliar (popularly known as Shaikh Aboobackar Ahmad), a leader of the AP Sunni Muslim community, said India and the rest of the world are going through a very chaotic phase with political revenge and violence reaching unprecedented levels.

“Those who kill someone should get capital punishment. India should introduce strict Islamic Shariah punishment system to prevent killers and those who spread violence to go scot free due to political influence. Gulf countries have successfully curbed such crimes and India should introduce capital punishment to curb violent crimes,” he said.

Shaikh Aboobackar Ahmad, General Secretary of All India Muslim Scholars Association and founder and Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Markazu Ssaquafathi Ssunniyya (Sunni Cultural Centre), Karanthur, Kozhikode, Kerala, is the man behind the biggest mosque project in India. He has been campaigning against alcoholism, violence and other social evils and runs educational and charitable institutions to help the poor and downtrodden.

Kanthapuram was referring to a spate of political assassinations and communal violence incidents in India, especially Kerala. A rebel communist leader TP Chandrashekharan was stabbed 51 times to death by an unidentified criminal gang, who were believed to be hired by a third party. Even BBC News recently reported a spate of political assassinations in Kerala, based on a disclosure that one political party is accused of carrying out a number political assassinations based on a list prepared by the party leaders.

Refusing to point out certain political parties that indulge in such political violence, he said irrespective of all considerations, criminals must get severe punishment for such heinous crimes if the government wants to curb heinous crimes in the country.

“Those who kill others in the name of politics or religion go scot free because they have protection from senior political leaders. Those who indulge in serious crimes such as political assassinations continuously commit such and get scot free believing that their political bosses will protect them. India should follow Gulf countries and introduce Shariah rule of awarding capital punishment to those who kill Indian citizens. This will reduce heinous crimes in society,” he said.

Regarding the menace of communal riots that has hit the country several times in the past, he said introduction of strict Shariah rule is the solution. In the aftermath of the Babri Masjid demolition in 1992, 900 people were killed in communal violence.

It may be recalled that India witnessed some of the worst communal riots in the recent history in which several thousand citizens have been killed. Ten years ago, Gujarat witnessed the worst communal rioting in post-independence India in which more than1,000 people were killed, hundreds injured, and thousands displaced.

Kanthapuram said he just completed a campaign against alcoholism, violence and other vices. He said Kerala Government has already banned the use of paan parag in the state. The man behind the project to build the largest mosque at Calicut, Kerala, Kanthapuram is also the Chairman of Markaz Center in Dubai.

There are more efficient and secular ways to reduce those occurences than implementing Sharia law.

Shariat law is incompatible with the current Indian way of life.

Islam's ultimate goal is, to implement sharia law on whole world, not conversion of everyone in muslims. Make me right if I'm wrong.

I will correct you. It's not Islams goal. It may be the goal of a few nut jobs. Rest are more worried about feeding themselves and their families.

Shariat cannot control crimes.

No law, religious or otherwise can control the negative urges and psychology of mankind.

That apart, there are some codes/ advice for individual lifestyles which are scientific and could be undertaken, irrespective of what religion one may belong to.

There is truth to is as India already saw mughal period as the most peaceful era .Shariat is an half hearted measure.If it is applied i with complete Islamization of India it wtll bring the total peace to masses.So Give Peace a chance Islamize Hindustan.
