Nitin Gadkari's man Sanjay Joshi quits BJP national executive

NEW DELHI: BJP leader Sanjay Joshi on Thursday resigned from BJP national executive, according to television reports.

Joshi told BJP party chief Nitin Gadkari that there should be no division in the party.

It is now being speculated that Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi may attend the second day of BJP national executive meet on Friday following Joshi's resignation.

Till Wednesday, Modi remained miffed with Gadkari for giving Joshi, his rival, a place in the decision making national executive. He had also indicated that he may abstain from the Mumbai meet.

Gujarat government had yesterday said that Modi will be attending a function in Udaipur on May 24. "Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi will take part in a function to celebrate birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap in Udaipur in Rajasthan on May 24," an official statement from the chief minister's office said.

Modi had skipped last meeting of BJP held in Delhi apparently due to differences with party president Nitin Gadkari on the issue of re-induction of Sanjay Joshi, a known detractor of Modi, in the party. He had also not campaigned in the UP polls.

BJP national executive meets in Mumbai on Thursday and Friday with plenty on the agenda, a key issue being how to bring peace to its own house.
