A farmer cut the arm of a Dalit labourer who drank water from his pitcher in a village in this district, reports received here said today. Rajesh alias Raju, a Dalit labourer of Sanyana village, was going for daily wage work in Daulatpur village near here yesterday. On the way, he drank water from the pitcher of 'high-caste' farmer Rajendar alias Pappu.Enraged by this act, Rajender attacked Raju with a sickle. The Dalit youth, whose arm was almost cut by the sickle, was rushed to a hospital in Hisar. Dr Ramesh Jain, who was attending on him, said the tendons of his arm were severed and a steel rod had been inserted in a major operation. Police said the accused had been arrested under section 326 and SC/SC Act and DSP Jai Prakash had been deputed to investigate the case. On the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner, District Development and Panchayat Officer Sumit Kumartoday handed over an amount of Rs 50,000 to the injured youth. He said the government would bear all the expenditure of his treatment

I am no advocate of mutilation as punishment, however, it would be a good example for others if both the hands of this Rajendar alias Pappu were amputated.

BTW FYI the Jatav (chamar) dalits ,the dalit caste Mayawati belong to ,don't eat or marry into the the Balmiki dadits where are considers a lower caste than the Jatav dalits. This is real truth of caste situation in our country where "upper caste" dalits treat "lower caste" dalits as untouchables.

The fact that this happens in 2012 is shame, serious action must be taken to ensure justice is highlighted and an example is set.

In Jatland, this is all too common; and media-men shamelessly report such incidents as - Higher Caste atrocities, when in majority of the cases it is the land owning OBCs (Jats, Gurjars, Yadavs, Kurmis etc) and upper class dalits/backwards who are responsible for the stringent caste system and atrocities in India and not landless poor Brahmins. The Brahmins have been the target of Imperialists, then Evangelists and now leftists/secularists due to known reasons!

It appears that upper caste folks, especially Brahmins are the favorite whipping boy for every self-confessed bleeding heart liberal. Add the word "upper caste", and people will start cursing Hinduism and by default " EVIL BRAHMINS"!!
