Relax there is difference between one person ranting and a newspaper doing a character assassination on a judge.
I newspaper should be fined but amount seems steep! a couple of crores should have been the limit but then again in usa courts award millions for much simpler offenses.
And media personnel should be brought down a notch or two imo. They think they are some kind of saints with supernatural power that they can drag someones name through the mud without any repercussions ? Ive seen media people acting like cunts on the streets and shouting at officials and showing there media sticker on car.
There needs to be accountability in everything and not only in govt.
Hmm.. what does the law say about individual posts on a blog/discussion forum? It should be interesting to find that out. The staff should have done its homework on that front by now - the forum is popular enough now.
Personally speaking, I will pitch in with all the weight I can possibly put behind DFI (financial and otherwise ) if some such thing were to happen.
I am sure the blogger community will put their weight behind DFI too. Do you remember that case where a Norwegian-Indian blogger said some pretty uncomplimentary things about Barkha Dutt? NDTV hounded him and threatened to slap a case on him. The entire Indian blogger community worldwide was infuriated and outraged. They made so much noise that NDTV didn't know where to hide. NDTV had to beat a hasty and quick retreat.
There are 100's of Blogs which exposing Barkha Dutt and so called Paid Media on regular basis. Even she is tired enough to block twitter account. Few days back there was article that Diggy going to take legal action against few blogs who uses unparliamentary language but in same news (TOI) comment section, There were 100's of repetitive personal attack on Diggy. He didn't took any action, If he took then 100 times more reply would have come from 1,000 of sources. It's not possible to take action against 1,000 of Blogs, Facebook Page and Twitter account. Majority of active Internet users are Anti- Paid media.
Yes, the internet is the last bastion of free speech. Never ever allow anyone to take this freedom away. Fight tooth and nail against anyone who threatens to take that freedom away from us, or to put the internet under any restrictive laws.

But then we dont know who can catch us under what section of any law. It is alright to "NOT LIKE" a person. But what i am bothered about is the allegation and loose talk esp about Sonia Gandhis and Rahul Gandhis without any unsubstantiated evidence. Imagine even LK Advani had to back out and say sorry. So i am concerned about how members post here esp when it comes to certain people.

Censoring the internet is the last straw of the govt, since all the TV channels seemed to have been bought up buy the INC.
I remember when Annaji's fast started all the media were completely behind it. A few weeks back, the TIMES NOW( I think) aired a piece that said that Annaji was a pawn of Ryesyes A la DIG"G". How pathetic!
