    ^^

Can you please provide some details as to what the current problems are? The only problem I know of, and it is a serious problem, is of farmer suicides in the once land of the Green Revolution.

Well, I want BJP+SAD to come in power for Punjab 2012 assembly election but this time, It's 50-50. last time in 2007, SAD + BJP won the election by close to 2/3rd majority. This time, if they able to win even by simple majority, I would be happy. Congress has advantage as of now, If they take the advantage of anti-incumbency factor, then can increase the no. of seats from 1/3rd to half minimum if not more.

Exactly those.Drug addiction will also become an issue if it aldready hasnt,as slowly lots of people are getting addicted to drugs.Dera verdicts will also influence the outcome.Contamination of water in Punjab(partly due to Military activities in Afghanistan/Iraq/Pakistan)has led to an increased cancer rate and increased blindness in the once prosperous Malwa Belt.

The third party will be Manpreet Badal's sanjha morcha(PPP,CPI,CPM,BSP).Manpreet Badal has played a masterstroke by allying with these parties as the CPI and CPM,despite not even having one MLA,have very good organizational machinery. The BSP will dig into the SC votebank of other parties.Manpreet Badal's alliance will at msot get 15 seats.

Personally,I'd prefer if the SAD is re-elected(since its unrealistic to expect Manpreet Badal to win, asmuch as I want it). Both the parties are equally corrupt, just that in SAD Badal makes most of the money, while in Congress everyone makes some money.Under Badal atleast we have achieved something in infrastructure and also the Badals have made major projects to address the electricity situation. The flight of the industries too has been reduced, heck if we improve like this we might make an investment destination.

i beg to differ, the SAD has a good chance of winning simply because of the infighting in the Congress. The Congress has so-many leaders trying to make it big and getting their chums tickets that they WILL mess up ticket distribution.Remember 2009 LS polls, when Congress took their own guy Rana Gurjit for a ride because he was becoming too powerfull.

Honestly looks like not many people have been following politics in Punjab regarding Manpreet Badal.

edit:I forgot to mention Simranjit Singh Mann , he bagged 16.3% of the votes in the SGPC elections., had the guidelines for who is a Sikh not been changed to allow Badal to register non-sikhs as sikhs for votes,he would have certainly got above 30% of the votes polled. He will, basically, just dig into SAD votes(or were Khalistanis actuallly voting for Badal).

i dont see how SAD/BJP combine is coming back in punjab, the way the things are, not a chance they have.

2009 general elections and they were defeated (8-5 for congress), and 2012 is expected to be no different, and with manpreet badal all set to eat into SAD's depleting vote bank, it isnt going to get better. and more importantly, it is hw punjab has voted in the last few assembly elections, an incumbent government has not won.

under SAD/BJP punjab has just slightly done better to what the state was doing under congress, no big change, even today a big chunk of the budget goes into subsidizing the life of the vote bank, one compares it to haryana and sees the huge difference, where once punjab was, haryana is, even uttranchal and himachal are doing better than punjab and are on a catch up, how ground realities have changed.

if i was to use one word, then punjab has been looted by its politicians across party lines, just recently there was this huge corruption scandal involving the bjp. it will be best to say post militancy the state never really recovered. massive corruption started during the militancy days, and it has only gone up since.

I know that in Punjab there have never been two successive goverments, but the major reason that Congress will lose IS ticket distribution.Every tom, dick and harry thinks he is a bigger congress leader then amarinder Singh and this has caused a lot of infighting and so they will screw up the ticket distribution.
