Narendra Modi remains first among equals in BJP's gennext - The Times of India

NEW DELHI: Despite the controversies shadowing him, Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi is seen as the tallest of BJP's 'gennext' leaders and a strong showing by the saffron party in the next Lok Sabha election can make him a formidable contender for prime minister.

Modi is better administrator than Shushma Swaraj and is definitely will be first choice PM candidate if BJP wins at least 200 seats on its own. The allies who will have problem with his PM candidacy will be Nitish Kumar, Shiromani Akali Dal, TDP. But if BJP leadership manages these allies with some inducements in the form of plum ministries, then it is possible that Modi can become PM. But BJP is not going to declare the candidacy of the PM before the elections so as to preempt any criticism that Modi might face because of his polarizing character and Gujarat riots.
    johnee and maomao like this.

Not only that, the postponement of Candidate declaration will also avoid internal rifts within BJP; at least till the election results are out.
If BJP has a clear lead, everything else will become secondary for the lower brass. They can & will huddle for sometime in to come up with a name, whether others like it or not would be least of their concerns.
I guess they'd say "Lets just get done with this PM thing, can't wait to feel the power again in our hands".
Its only the topmost leadership who'll worry & deliberate about the baggage of unsecular image that Modi comes with.

    Regards,
    Virendra

I think by the time polls arrive, BJP will announce its choice of PM.

This news should give a boost to Modi's aspirations.
