Flag Hoisting: Srinagar

This whole episode has worked well for both BJP and NC. Both the parties have scored brownie points with their respective constituencies and the UPA/Congress has ended up with a beauty of a black eye. Serves them right as Ernesto has mentioned in earlier post that Congress is paying for their Zero Foresight.

Omar Abdullah became a hero of Kashmiri masses overnight. I believe this event will also increase the legitimacy of mainstream parties (NC in particular) in the valley. Separatists are totally confused. I am bound to say that India has been a big winner.

You would be knowing fully well that a flag hoisting will bring terrorists like moths to a flame and would you be willing risking the lifes of your sub-ordinates for

fulfilling a vile politicians agenda.

I would not have encoraged to willingly hoist a flag in such circumstances .The patriot in me tells its stupid to hoist the flag there endangering my countrymen for

someone's political agenda.This is something many are unable to understand sir.

Raising the National Flag in a public place is a decision that the Govt takes.

It is not for the military to take the decision.

If, for reasons of security, the Army is to provide security, then it shall have to do so, as a part of 'Aid to Civil Power'.

Notwithstanding any threat to personal safety, all military personnel have to do the task assigned.

They have been doing so from time immemorial.

and i guess if it was political then BJP has already scored a goal cause of congress denying them rights to hoist the flag..
if i was from congress i would have let them do it and would have spoiled their plans..of course you need to think about nation for that and not about poor stone pelters who love india so much

The Army is not made up of Freedom Fighters.

It is made up of Freedom enforcers and operate under the directions of the Govt i.e. the State, irrespective of personal opinions and views.

That is why, we are not in the sad state Pakistan is in.

Action against stone pelters or preventing activities is the sole preserve of the Govt.

If someone feels that the Govt is not living up to their expectation, please use the ballot.

Whoever then comes to Govern, will have the full authority over the armed forces and I assure you all that such forces, without fear or favour, will obey the orders of the democratically elected govt.

I don't understand why was BJP doing it...it would be naive of them to think that one can't hoist a flag of India there when we have about 7 lakh of strong army presence there...Problem is not about hoisting flag there ,it is about slowly getting the discontent people to accept Indian nationhood n then hoist the flag there by themselves...Anybody can hoist our national flag there in huge security presence..

you guys still think the Valley Muslims will get over their Hate for India and hoist the flag by themselves ?? Wakey wakey.
