Pakistan is going to obtain four F-22P Frigates to be built in Pakistan in collaboration with China as part of country's efforts to strengthen its navy.

Recently Pakistan was has got three frigate from China while fourth is being built. Previously, China also handed over four frigates to Pakistan.

According to a report, published in Daily Jang, the leading Urdu daily of the country, Pakistan was happy over getting the fighters at low price and got booked orders for four new ships.

The report said that the Chinese frigate costs 200 million dollar while the US LCS ship having similar qualities and technologies costs 600 million dollars.

According to the report, the F-22P Frigate is laced with modern missile technology. The first ship, PNS Zulfiquar, was handed over to the PN on 30 July 2009 and the second, PNS Shamsheer, on January 23, 2010. The third is undergoing sea trials, The Fourth and Last Frigate of F-22P series for the PN was launched on 17 June 2011.(TNT)

Re: PN to get four more Modified f-22p frigates

China Shipbuilding Trading Corporation (CSTC) secured an order from the Pakistan navy for four warships. These are thought to be improved variants of the F-22P Zulfiquar class frigates, four of which have already been built for the navy, (three in China and one in Karachi).

According to a spokesman for Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works, the Pakistan navy recommended a large number of modifications for the follow on batch of frigates, and these modifications have been accepted by the Chinese designers.

A spokesman for CSTC was unable to say if the eight FM-90 SAMs (Crotale copy) would be replaced by a larger number of more capable missiles housed in a VLS however. The SAM armament of the current F-22P class frigates is a noted shortcoming of the design.

The picture you have seen are of 500 tonnes FAC azmat class

the Four new ordered are F-23P(modified f-22p) with displacement more than 3,000 tonnes.though the new ordered are modified and must be close to 4k tonnes in displacement....Manufacturing them at home is most important

Anyway two more shipyard are about to get active in 2013(one at port qasim and the other in gwadar..both would have infra more upgraded than the KSEW where the f-22P was manufactured.)

When you say, Manufacturing these ships at home is important, then why arent they doing that. Karachi Dockyard already builted a F-22P type in their dockyard right?

They cant even built a 3000 ton ship?

The article says, The new F-22p will be under heavy modifications, but doesn't want to talk whether the missile base will replaces with VLS system. Then what kind of heavy modications thus he talking about?

I wont be suprised, If they succeed to get a few Type-54A frigates. It wont much of a use against Carrier Group.

180 series frigates? what are those?

C602 Coastal defence system would be useless, The Fleet would way out of its range and it would be needed radar to detect targets, which ultimately be located and destroyed.

5-8X OHP frigates upgraded with Genesis Battleship Management System.
Alhtough 30 year old, These Hazard Perry frigate with Harppons looks more better option than recent F-22P Ships.

6X AIP Qing Class subs
Iam glad they opted for Qing class shis. PN actually was under negotiations to acquire a few Type 214 submarines to be builted in thier dockyard but, dropped the deal in favor China

Type 212 submarines are very silent and perfect choice for shore based defense. Could have perfectly suited Pak requirments

4X ZDK-03 AWACS
10X P-3C Orion HAWKEYE

Ok Thats Hillarious, Good luck with that.

well this article doesnt really mention the upgrade.but when Noman bashir was navy admiral.the negotiation for more F-22 kinda ships is going on since than.let me quote
According to Admiral Noman Bashir, Chief of Naval Staff of Pakistan Navy, the Navy intends to expand its fleet of F-22P frigates from the current four by constructing more ships. These may be an improved variant incorporating features of the Type 054A frigate, possibly designated F-23P, for which discussions have been held between Pakistan and China.
I think Medium range HQ-16 is expected

I guess you must know that PN is a defensive force.

well i posted this from BB.hence mistake i guess

OHP under genesis upgrade would be better bt not more than f-22p.

Qing class are alot better

Why

*more than 5000 tonnes of displacement
*can take up 3 times more number of SLCM compared to type 214
*If pak had SLBM than even being conventional sub it can launch slbm's(6) for more detail google about the older concept of russian golf class submarine on whom qing class is based.the reason qing class are not SSK bt SSB
Ok Thats Hillarious, Good luck with that.
Thanks

Qing Class is better than U-214 ? :lawl:
Sucking up to Chinese . The reason Paki U-214 deal was cancelled because you dont have any cash, Germany is not USA or China which gives out free stuff.

Qing class is based on Golf class SSBN ?:dafuq:

Sensor = Unknown specs & looks vintage
Offensive Capability = Subsonic Missiles with range of only 120km
defensive capability = Vintage Air-defense Missiles with 8,600 m range only with two Chinese AK-630 CIWS..
Propulsion = No Gas Turbine Engines..

If there is a talk about massive up-gradation, Its no surprise..

you have mixed Azmat class FAC specs with F-22p

Beside this c-803 range is more than 250km.

AK-630 CIWS is on Azmat class FAC

anyway
