Submarino nuclear brasileiro começa a ser desenvolvido em julho | Poder Naval - Marinha de Guerra, Tecnologia Militar Naval e Marinha MercanteThe project basic engineering of the first Brazilian nuclear submarine begins to be developed from July 9 this year when the first group of Brazilian engineers returning from France.
The stage is inserted into the Submarine Development Programme (Prosub) Navy of Brazil (MB), initiated in September 2011 in Itaguai in Rio of January, with the construction of the Scorpene class submarines, French technology, while Initial construction of the submarine powered by nuclear propulsion.
The 26 Brazilian engineers have remained a year and a half in France for studies and the return of the team marks the start of the work on Brazilian soil. A group will be in Rio de Janeiro and elsewhere in Sao Paulo, near the Navy Technology Center (CTMSP) to integrate information regarding the design of propulsion. The program is part of the agreement signed with France in 2008, worth U.S. $ 6.7 billion, which provides for the transfer of technology to Brazil.
Managed by the coordinating body of the General Programme for the Development of Nuclear Submarine Propulsion (Cogesn), the project also includes construction of a shipyard, a base for submarines, a plant for metallic elements, to build four conventional submarines, as well as construction the first nuclear submarine. The agreement, however, does not include nuclear components, while the Navy to design and build its nuclear propulsion system and integrate it to the platform designed in conjunction with the technical French.
Started now, the engineering design of the submarine will end in 2015. In 2016 will start its construction in ItaguaÃ-RJ, with completion in 2023, to test port and at sea. In 2025, the submarine will enter into its operational phase . Thus, the country will join the select club of countries that have mastered the technology of nuclear propulsion. China, U.S., France, England and Russia are already permanent members of UN Security Council.
The report of the Southern Cross visited Aramar Experimental Center (CEA) in Ipero, due to the commemoration of the anniversary of the Society of Friends of the Navy - Soamar Sorocaba, and interviewed Rear Admiral Luciano Pagano Jr., superintendent of the Nuclear Technology Center Program Navy (CTMSP) in São Paulo, on the progress of the Navy Nuclear Program (SLP), whose purpose is to master the technology needed to design and construction of the submarine with nuclear propulsion.
Leveraging this process, two new facilities were inaugurated recently in CEA Aramar: Unit Production of uranium hexafluoride (Usexa), a landmark for the country in complete mastery of the nuclear fuel cycle, and Dressage Training Center and Nuclear Aramar (Ciana ), a kind of simulator designed to train operators in the nucleus-Generation Laboratory (Labgene) and crews of future submarines. Future plans also provide that the Navy presents a CEA Laboratory of Hydrodynamics (Labhidro) for tests and trials of the shipbuilding industry.
In the month of May, the Navy of Brazil also officially launches in partnership with the Polytechnic University of São Paulo (Poli / USP) the installation of nuclear engineering courses Aramar. The signing of the transfer of the area occurs on the 16th, in Sao Paulo. School has future plans to implement the curriculum also in the naval area.
