Following the remarks made by a US Congressman privy to intelligence inputs about Pakistan's Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) funding Lashar-e-Taiba (LeT), India is building international pressure for action against Pakistan for financing terror and circulating counterfeit Indian currency.

An Indian delegation visiting Norway to attend a conference of the Financial Action Taken Force (FATF) is pushing for economic sanctions on Pakistan on grounds that the country has been involved in financing terror activities in India.

In a report submitted to FATF, India has given proof of Pakistan funding terror activities, allowing its soil to be used for abetting cross-border terror, and circulating fake Indian currency. "In the process of periodic review, we examined the trends of counterfeit currency, money laundering and terror financing along with a working group of 25 countries," said a top-level government source.

This comes days after Peter King, an American Congressman and Chairman of Sub Committee on Counter-terrorism and Intelligence, called LeT a proxy of Pakistan's ISI. "ISI provides LeT with a safe haven and funding to train and prepare for terrorist attacks," he said.

An Indian delegation is scheduled to attend the conference in Norwegian capital Oslo between June 17 and 22.
