SYDNEY: Hundreds of protesters clashed with police in Sydney on Saturday, as a wave of unrest against a film that mocks Islam spread to Australia, with bottles and shoes hurled outside the US consulate.

Furious protests targeting symbols of US influence flared in cities across the Muslim world on Friday in retaliation for a crude film made in the United States by a right-wing Christian group that ridicules the Prophet Mohammed.

At least six protesters died in Egypt, Tunisia, Lebanon and Sudan as police there battled to defend American missions from mobs of stone-throwers, and Washington deployed US Marines to protect its embassies in Libya and Yemen.

In Sydney, Saturday shoppers looked on in surprise as protesters, including children, shouted "Down, down USA" and waved banners such as "Behead all those who insult the prophet".

You don't check expansion of Islam in your peaceful countries then - such activities by 'religion of peace' will keep on increasing to a level of terror attacks..... at least learn from what India is going through - a live example is in front of you -- with helpless majority population held at random by Jihadis and corrupt Hindus politicians (in reality crypto)!

You whites will be the dumbest of all people on the planet if keep on allowing and funding Islam in your country knowing very well what Islam is and how it treats non-muslims in Islamic nations!

These protest remind me of a film from 1976 about the life of Mohammad.

Mohammad, Messenger of God

Mohammad, Messenger of God - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Depiction of Muhammad
In accordance with Muslim beliefs regarding depictions of Muhammad, he was not depicted on-screen nor was his voice heard. At the beginning of the film, a statement is displayed, "The makers of this film honour the Islamic tradition which holds that the impersonation of the Prophet offends against the spirituality of his message. Therefore, the person of Mohammad will not be shown."

This rule extended to his wives, his daughters, his sons-in-law, and the first caliphs (Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Ali). This left Muhammad's uncle Hamza (Anthony Quinn) and his adopted son Zayd (Damien Thomas) as the central characters. During the battles of Badr and Uhud depicted in the movie, Hamza was in nominal command, even though the actual fighting was led by Muhammad.

Whenever Muhammad was present or very close by, his presence was indicated by light organ music. His words, as he spoke them, were repeated by someone else such as Hamza, Zayd and Bilal. When a scene called for him to be present, the action was filmed from his point of view. Others in the scene nodded to the unheard dialogue.

The closest the film comes to a depiction of Muhammad or his immediate family are the view of Ali's famous two-pronged sword Zulfiqar during the battle scenes, a glimpse of a staff in the scenes at the Kaaba or in Medina, and Muhammad's camel, Qaswa.

In 1977 a group of Islamic radicals took over a number of buildings in Washington, DC in protest against the film, demanding its destruction. It is not clear if the hostage-takers understood the film did not attempt to depict Mohammad.

Video captures 8-year-old 'Jihad girl' urging Islamic uprising

Eight-year-old Ruqaya speaks at the Khilafah Conference in Bankstown, Sydney. Picture: James Croucher

SHE may be the youngest voice of Islamic fundamentalism to be broadcast in Australia.

This is a recording of 8-year-old Ruqaya urging other children to join the fight for a global Islamic state. As she sees it, "nobody is too young".

Ruqaya delivered her speech to an audience of 600 at a conference called Muslims Rise, hosted by an Islamic group called Hizb ut-Tahrir. It was held in Bankstown in Sydney's west on Sunday.

Muslims Rise advocates the restoration of the Islamic caliphate - a global government for all muslims, operating under strict sharia law.

Ruqaya was one of nine speakers in a considerable line-up, which included a controversial keynote from Taji Mustafa, described by the Opposition as a "hate preacher".

"My dear brothers and sisters in Islam, as the world gathers against the believers in Syria ... seeking to hijack our sincere and blessed uprisings, children in Sydney would like to send their message of hope and support to the Muslims of (Syria), especially to the children and mothers," Ruqaya said in her speech.

"These uprisings have demonstrated that this umma (global Muslim community) is alive and well, her love is for jihad, she is unshackled herself from the fear which she held, and she yearns to once again live under the banner of (the Islamic state).

"Children as young as myself can be seen on the streets joining the uprisings, risking their lives to bring food, water and medicine to their wounded family members, some of them never returning to their mothers ... Nobody is too young," she said.

Bangladesh blocks YouTube over anti-Islamic video

The government in Bangladesh has blocked YouTube to prevent people from seeing an anti-Islam video produced in the US ridiculing the Prophet Muhammad.

Mir Mohammaed Morshed, a spokesman for the state-run Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Ltd., says the government blocked YouTube late Monday. He says the decision will remain effective until further notice.

On Sunday, the chief of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission said the government sent a letter to Google, which owns YouTube, urging it to remove the video. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made the same request.

Google has blocked access to the video in Libya and Egypt following violence there, and in Indonesia and India because it says the video broke laws in those countries.

Bangladesh is a Muslim-majority nation of 160 million people but is governed by laws based on British common law.

Australians are rough necks.

They will give them a swift kick in their posterior that they richly deserve!

Good that the film is being blocked. It is puerile I believe with no cinematic flourish to rave about.

In fact, it is juvenile, they say!

It always puzzles me as to why people need to defend God or any other relgious figures for that matter, surely God does not need mere mortals like ourselves to do his bidding to exact his revenge.
