Interesting report. Israelites are known to be a gritty people surviving in an ocean of enemies. But it seems the people are no longer certain of the future and want to hedge their bets.

I think they should settle their differences with the Palestinians peacefully and give them their own state. Not that it will satisfy their mortal enemies but at least take out the moralistic posturing.

The Jewish lobby in America is too powerful. They can create and destroy governments. The US will lose a strategic position in the Middle-East if Israel is lost. And manyof the high-tech corporate research takes place in Israel. I dont think the Americans will be ready to lose Israel.

Aid to Israel? I don't think they live on any aid from the US. They have a strong and vibrant economy and they make a lot of money selling arms.

True but USA may want to give money or a weapon to Israel where Obama may be questioned about his pseudoarab stance and articles like this could justify the delivery while still maintaining the stance. USA averages 3 billion a year in non military aid to Israel.
