China, Taiwan protest fatal shooting of fisherman by Philippines - latimes.com

BEIJING -- Beijing and Taipei united in their condemnation of the Philippines on Friday for the shooting death of a Taiwanese fisherman in disputed waters.

The killing of Hung Shih-cheng, 65, injects a volatile new element in ongoing conflicts over the South China Sea, where fishermen and authorities from competing nations often play dangerous games of chicken at sea.

Philippine authorities admitted that one of their coast guard ships opened fire Thursday on the victim's Taiwanese vessel, but said they had done so to prevent their own boat from being rammed and only intended to disable the engine.

Well, this once again proves that Philippine is quite a belligerent and dangerous country.

PLAN need to reinforce the presence in that area, just in case the Philippines get insane and do the same horrible things to fishmen from mainland.

Taiwan stops hiring Filipino workers

According to a report by philstar.com, Taiwan has started hiring workers from Thailand and Indonesia to replace Filipinos in retaliation for the Philippine government's deportation of 14 Taiwanese to China, a source said yesterday.

Taiwan is also considering stopping all investments in the Philippines, according to a very reliable source close to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO), Taiwan's de facto embassy in Manila.

"How can the Philippine government ignore Taiwan which has 150 units of F-16, 60 Mirage jet fighters, tanks, latest weapon with a strong 600,000 well equipped armed forces and over $400 billion foreign reserves," the source said.

Philippines women are not so stupid as their mem
If Taiwan stops hiring Filipino workers, should not China follow suit?

After all, they claim that Taiwan is a part of China, surely PRC cannot let Taiwan show greater patriotism than Communist Chinese, can they?

Not many Filipinos are being hired in mainland, though some are working as maid in Shanghai.

Besides, Beijing has more means to retaliate, such as halting the import of bananas from Philippine, which has been proved to effective.

Hong Kong is a part of China, right?

Filipino maids or fei yung (菲傭), or bun mui (賓妹) and bun bun (賓賓) are said to be around 140,000.

In any case i would to say this pugay kamay (salute) sa mga taohan ng Hukbong Bantay Dagat ng Pilipinas (Philippine Coast Guard)

Here's a statement of the Philippine Coast Guard make things clear:

opposition and the media to take action, with the Philippines refusing to apologize and saying the coast guard was tackling illegal fishing.

Philippine Coast Guard spokesman Commander Armand Balilo said the incident took place in Philippine waters and the Filipino personnel had been properly carrying out their duties to stop illegal fishing.

"If somebody died, they deserve our sympathy but not an apology," Balilo told reporters.

Hung's son has insisted that the boat did not cross into Philippine waters.

Zero_wing, politic and land dispute aside. Just to be frank, do you believe a 13m long boat made of glass fiber is going to ram a much larger boat? You are doubting your own IQ. The shooting was without warning, and the ships has at least 51 bullet mark. How many warning shot do you need to fire directly at humans?

Think again, a glass fiber boat ramming large patrol boat with machine guns... Wow, you must invent some type of logic to explain this.

The boat was not operating in Philippine territorial water when the shooting happened, therefore, the so called Philippine law enforcement vessel had no legitimacy to enforce any law there.

Philippines fired upon the small ship without giving any warning, and pursued the ship for hours while opening fire.

The Taiwanese ship is very small, no way that they would choose to collide with a much bigger ship, for what? If Philippines were firing for self protection, why didnt they stopped firing when the fishing ship was running away, instead they pursued and kept on shooting?

Dark blue: Philippines territorial water + EEZ
Green: Disputed EEZ

Certainly the Taiwanese boat has intrude Philippines undisputed EEZ;

Shooting illegal vessels inside one EEZ is not something uncommon, especially if the intrusion is on non-disputed area.
Just last one to two years ago several Chinese neighbors also shoot Chinese crewmen. The respond was relatively "mild" than this~

Bullshit, the incident took place within 220 miles from Taiwan, it is not the EEZ of Philippines.

Firing upon unarmed civilian ship without any warning is very serious crime, not to mention you pursued and kept firing in that process.

I guess it is time to call the bankruptcy of that self defense theory.

You should also know that it happened in our Taiwan province, no need to explain what Taiwan is, and you have the nerve to act as a liar, claiming that you open fired for self defense while you were murdering unarmed civilian fishmen.

Haha, wow you monkeys who are from a country that steals, kills and lies, accuse others of doing what you have done?
