The pictured rounds are for the NATO smoothbore gun, incompatible with the current Arjun because of the different geometry of the chambers at least.

^^
Are you sure? If those rounds were incompatible with Arjun, why would they put them in the picture along with the Arjun? Or is it the ignorance of those that created that graphic?
The pictured rounds are for 120 mm smoothbore guns, i.e. NATO standarized armament (take a look at the chamber's dimensions). They put them there, because IMI probably didn't make any Arjun compatible 120 mm rounds until now but plans to base there new rounds on them. The APFSDS is afaik M338.
IMI will make Arjun compatible rounds only if India decides to order it. There is nobody else with a Rifle gun who will buy Israeli ammo even if they did make it compatible at their own cost.
IMI is currently blacklisted, so we will see what happens.
Yeah, I wonder why IMI from the start with ammunition do not promote MG253 120mm smoothbore gun with L48 barrel? It would be a great deal for both IMI and India.
any info that LAHAT missiles can be fired from ARJUN
go some pages back you will see my post with arjun tank firing LAHAT.
BTW some unconfirmed reports said years ago this was tested on arjun tank and it work perfectly
It's nothing more than Israeli made, 10 rounds double drum magazine for Merkava Mk4. Each drum holds 5 rounds. This magazine is semi automated, it means that loader selects on his control panel what ammunition he want to load in gun, drum rotates to proper ammunition rack with proper round stored, opens blast door of ammunition port, and push round outside magazine, rest is done by human loader.
Personally I was thinking about more advanced design based on similiar principals. Several years ago US Company Meggitt designed compact autoloading system for M1 Abrams tanks, it's capacity was 34 rounds ready to immidiate use (instead of current 18 ready and 18 semi-ready), I as thinking about redesigning it slightly in to something similiar but more capable than Israeli system.
Actually Meggitt compact autoloader have more long term perspectives, but as it was designed primary to be used on M1 series where whole turret bustle is used as isolated ammunition magazine, other tanks like Leopard 2 or Arjun would need complete turret redesign, this is why Israeli solution is cheaper and simpler to be eventually adopted.

Defence Expo 2012. Arjun and T-90, pictures from insides.
some of the pics should not have been their........................ people should think before posting these pics.
I am sure the Army knows what it is showing....however i would agree that the photographer should have certain discretion while shooting the pics...
Nothing wrong with it. It is opsec only before induction. Once displayed in a public place, such small things are nothing.
He should have taken better pictures.
