and Some older artillery pieces from one of the soviet block nations last year.

till date not a single howitzer has been purchased after bofors nearly 25 years ago. no m-46 has been purchased from any soviet bloc nation. besides you expect the induction of just 80 pinakas and 64 smech to compensate for the shortfall of 3600 modern howitzers? there can be no substitute for howitzers on the modern battle field. our defence minister is such that he will ensure no howitzer is bought till the UPA's term ends in 2014.

M-46 are purchased since 1999, every year we buy 200 of these gun to replace older 105mm guns, But M-46 is not answer to enemy`s 155mm and 152mm, IA need a 155/52cal towed gun desperately, Beside telling that we yet need to purchase it will take to 5 years at-least to replace all m-46 by new 155mm towed in IA arty regts..

Btw, 100 Pinaka MRLS are nothing, its not even enough to support a single strike crop, they need to produce a large no of these systems to replace IA bm-21s..

DRDO conducts every September, Scientists Entry Test (SET) for recruitment of graduate engineers or post graduates in Science as Scientists. Please visit DRDO web site drdo.org to know more about their recruitment procedure. The recruitment is done by RAC (Recruitment and Assessment Centre) of the DRDO.

This is ridiculous...

Without self-propelled artillery, our Cold Start doctrine is not worth the paper that it is written on. According to one source (National Bureau of Asian Reserch in Seattle, WA) the Indian Army only as 10% of the self-propelled artillery it requires for a sucessful operation.

The Army says it needs up to 4,000 155mm towed, wheeled, and tracked artillery platforms. Are these even in the pipeline?? Are they being developed by DRDP?

Rip off of what?

Crew: 5
Calibre: 155mm
Barrel Length: 52 or 54 calibre
Maximum Firing Range: Over 50km
Rate of Fire: intense 8~10 rounds/min
Loading system: Automatic
Second Weapon: 12.7 mm anti-aircraft machine gun
Smoke Grenade: 2 sets of 4-barrel launchers

sounds good enough to me.

Ordnance Factory Board Offers to Upgrade Indian Army 155mm Bofors Artillery Guns

2010-11-29 The Government has received a proposal from the Ordnance Factory Board to undertake upgradation of 155 mm Bofors guns. However, no proposal has been received from OFB for 105 mm Artillery Gun.

An RFP was issued by AHQ/Ministry of Defence for up-gradation of existing 155 mm/39 Calibre FH 77B Bofors Gun to 155 mm/45 Calibre Gun in August 2008. OFB participated in the RFP and submitted a bid, which is under evaluation at Ministry of Defence.

OFB did not seek any collaboration with multinational companies for export oriented production system.

This information was given by Minister of State for Defence Shri MM Pallam Raju in a written reply to Shri Bhartruhari Mahtab in Lok Sabha today.

As it stands the DENEL-DRDO bhim is shelved, however we may yet see the BHIm in a new avatar with another gun substituting for the T-6, from what i have come to know the Korean K9 is a strong contender .

M-46S 130mm

The M-46S is an upgraded version of the Soviet 130mm field gun.

The M-46S is a hybrid of a 155 mm 45 caliber cannon assembly comprising of a new 155 mm barrel, breech assembly and muzzle brake mounted on the proven under carriage and recoil systems of the 130 mm M-46 field gun in service today.

Soltam Systems upgrade kit is designed to increase its firing range with advanced ammunition allowing an extended range of 39 km with the ERFB/BB projectile – 40% increase in range comparing to the original M-46.

With conventional projectiles an extended range of 24 km is possible.

Some where in thar

IA wants a T-72 chassis as a platform for 155/52l cannon..

130 m46 SPGH

130mm m46 SPGH

G5 155MM MOUNTED ON TATRA T815

My Idea is to have 130mm mounted on TATRA T-815 ( 8x8 ) as SA did with 155 G5..

This will give IA a upper hand in mountain terrain as well as desert terrain warfare..

This SPGH is easy to produce and manufacturing rate will be higher, Weapon and vehicle are produce in India, Vehicle and gun both are familiar in IA..

130MM M46

PRESENT, 130MM SPGH

What You People Think Abt It?? :emot112:
