Whatever be the reason for the start of this fight, the officers and jawans lost discipline and acted emotionally forgetting all the discipline they learnt during their time in Army. They need to be punished for their acts if there has to be some semblance of order & discipline restored back in the Army and make it known that undisciplined ones will get the boot.
You can not entirely deny the possibility of scuffles in Army. They are humans like anybody else. This incident is a disciplinary failure. I have no doubt that Army high command will do everything to punish those who crossed their professional limits while taking holistic view over the mishap. What worries me is the media blowing it out of proportion.
Brigadier,
Can you expand on this? What is this US system which you claim has seemed to have affected the Indian Army?
What is shameful is mutiny and nothing else.
Where does mutinies occur?
Answar is that on ships and in armed band like police and Army?
How many mutinies have occcued in Indian Army?
Except for 1857, Peshawar incident and Naval mutinies (all political), none whatsoever?
Sikh protests in the aftermath of Blue star was a socio political sentimental affair. That too was nothing much.
This in an isolated incident of "garam Khoon" of a major boiling beyond control who could not tolerate his wife being misbehaved with.
Had he tolerated that I would call him totally misfit for Army.
What is surprising is the behaviour of the CO who started scolding his officers in front of his men.
Officers ganging up and thrashing the CO can not happen just like that.
*
* Wahtever, in the Army one has to face the consequences of his actions.
No one should be spared .
the commanding officer is relieved from the duty and case is opened against him against present and past irregularities. regiment 226 have problematic record as per media. new commanding officer is in place
Media :
Oh, Kahin pe nigahe Kahin pe nishana ( otherwise it is not media).
Yeah surely they are not blowing it out of proportion. Talking about how Armymen can carry out mutiny against established rule & how we should be worried about undisciplined armymen threatening power structure in this country over a evening talk show is not overestimation of situation.
- Soldier misbehaves with Major's wife.
- Major beats up the soldier then refuses him medical attention.
- Commanding officer comes, feels the mood, and publicly scolds the Major.
- Major and his colleagues beat up the commanding officer.
- Soldiers join in and beat the Major and his colleagues.
I can see where all this started from.
I agree with Bhadra, the only person fit for the army in this entire saga is the Major who beat up so many people for his wife. I say well done.
It would be very interesting to know the class composition of the unit. Disband that bloody unit and throw it in the dustbin of history.
The major could have been a bad hat but not all officers present...
And look at the CO, he behaved like a typical scheming troublesome bad gunner !
He made his officers fight the men !

Totally agree .. Army is not a Group of Sociophiles ...
In democracy everything should come in open to general public. There is a fine line between Democracy and Autocratic Protected/Closed State. Media is this fine line.
If you find it shameful then think before you act.
