Thanks

I would love it if somehow we could leverage DFI to help out such groups in their endeavours. :)
Yes..that would be great. There will be a sizeable number of DFIans from Delhi.

Typical BS.

How are two dustbins supposed to handle trash which requires 20 bins? Where are people going to through stuff if trash is not collected regularly? Indian cities do not charge enough for civic facilities.

Well it contributes more then Zero bins i m quite sure.

Apprecitae it or not , but Ugly Indian is quite a success in Bangalore and has inspired many such movements in other cities.

Yes, but it puts emphasis in the wrong place i.e. self help groups or NGOs.

Given the amount of waste generation in a typical city, NGOs cannot help solve the problem. If you have noticed most of the army areas in India are squeaky clean and have bins in regular places. I think the reason is that they take the job more seriously. Other civic bodies just shirk their responsibility and do not take their job seriously.

But the process is already started.

Even in villages, they are collecting garbage at the end of the day.

It is starting. One day, we may have swatch bharat.

Finally some thing. Hope this goes onto all the trains. We should all be able to look without disgust in our train stations.
There should also be sensitization and imposition of penalties for using areas around tracks for this activity.
Cleanliness and sanitation is all about awareness of public. The people of this country have to participate. The government have an important role to play. But awareness and participation of people is a must for long term solution.
