"Ukrainian gov't should not keep its troops from surrendering."--Putin

2/17/2015
"I hope the Ukrainian government will not prevent the surrounded troops from surrendering"—Putin
Translated from Russian by J.Hawk

The President discussed the new Ukrainian effort to relieve its grouping in the Debaltsevo cauldron.

The Russian leader appearing at a press conference to discuss the outcome of the meeting with Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban, said that the continuing clashes between the Ukrainian forces and the militia are not a surprise to him.

"It was predictable. I talked about it in Minsk. It was clear that whoever is in the cauldron will attempt to break out, escape, while the militias who are holding their positions will resist."

Putin also informed the journalists that troops loyal to Kiev attempted yet again to escape from Debaltsevo. Nevertheless, the number of clashes between the two sides has considerably dropped since the Minsk agreement was signed.

"I hope the responsible [sic] parties in Kiev will not prevent its surrounded troops from laying down their arms and returning to their families."

The President also said that the shared task of all parties to the Minsk negotiations is to "save the lives of the people in the cauldron and ensure the fighting there does not complicate the relationship between the official government and the militias."

J.Hawk's Comment: Putin also said (and that particular quote did not make it into the LifeNews article translated above, though is expressed with a perfectly straight face in the video below) that "nobody likes to lose, especially if you lose to yesterday's coal miners and tractor drivers." Trolling, Master Level.

Does Ukrainian government's coalition with the Georgian government "in exile" point to the same sponsors?

February 17, 2015
Kristina Rus
Ukrainian government became a haven for deposed Georgian government in exile, consisting of (according to Cmpou - Live Journal):

Minister of Health - Alexander Kvitashvili

First Deputy Minister of Interior - Eka Zguladze

Deputy Prosecutor General - David Sakvarelidze

First Deputy Minister of Justice - Gia Getsadze

Head of State Registration Service - Dzhaba Ebanoidze

Deputy Head of State Registration Service - Georgy Tsiklauri

Head of State Judicial Service - Khatiya Sheliya

Deputy Governor of Rovno region - Ilya Glonti

... and "dozens more", according to Mikhail Saakashvili (see below).

According to "Kommersant", Poroshenko offered Mikhail Saakashvili, the former president of Georgia, a position of first Vice-Prime Minister of Ukraine, as Saakashvili told a Georgian TV staion "Rustavi-2" on December 7, 2014. However, Mikhail Saakhashvili refused the offer, because it would entail swapping his Georgian citizenship for Ukrainian. Nevertheless, Saakashvili and Poroshenko share a close and warm ties, going back to the days spent together at the Kiev Institute of International Relations.

"Independent News" reported in November that Georgian newspaper "Kviris Palitra" spoke to Iraklia Gogova, a former head of "Alliance for New Georgia" faction, who left Georgia in 2003 after the Rose revolution, and was a senior political consultant to Viktor Yushenko in 2009 and 2010. According to him, Klichko asked Saakashvili to lobby for him in the US for a position of president of Ukraine. But Saakashvili preferred Poroshenko, says Gogova.

Gogova also said that Poroshenko and Saakashvili did business together, particularly related to buses "Bogdan", produced in Ukraine.

Gogova said that from the new Georgian appointees in Ukraine we should expect privatization of hospitals (as former Georgian Minister of Health Kvitashvili did in Georgia), and show front reforms, as in Georgian law enforcement.

On June 8, MK.ru quoted the following statement by Saakashvili:

"With regard to formal appointment, I fully belong to my country and intend to use my experience for the benefit of the motherland. I'll always be were needed by my motherland. I love to make decisions and implement them, not to give advice. Although our team, dozens of experienced reformers, are already working in Kiev and other Ukrainian cities, and I'm happy to help them," - said the ex-President of Georgia.

Meanwhile, Mikhail Saakashvili is wanted by the current Georgian law enforcement authorities on three counts.

Besides what the example of Saakashvili can tell us about a possible future of Poroshenko, it is important to think about what the choice of the current appointees to the Ukrainian government tells us about WHO made the appointments. And then we can see that the people behind the Rose revolution in Georgia and the people behind the Maidan coup in Ukraine in February, 2014 - are one and the same.

Ironically, what allows Georgians and Ukrainians to work together, is their common fluency in Russian, the same secret weapon which is the biggest glue still tying all former Soviet Republics together, and the biggest foundation for a future common economic space.

To his great disappointment, Prime Minister of Ukraine, Arseny Yatsenyuk learned this the hard way, when he found out that the new Georgian Minister of Health did not understand a word of Ukrainian, and Yatsenyuk was forced to conduct his cabinet meetings in Russian. He tried English first, but it did not go well with his Ukrainian ministers.

An insightful commentary on the chocolate seller. Apparently, he was working for the US since 2006, gave away military secrets to the US, and allegedly wanted to open a US diplomatic mission in Crimea. Looks like a confrontation with Russia was being planned for many years.

@jouni, what is Pentagon? Pentagon is permanent war office. USA fights war (both military and economic 24x7x365) over many parts of the world. Your prosperity is ensured by USA, not your national government.

Russia has learned the hard way that they are the enemy of USA in USA's eyes; that they will always be on the other side.

The Indians who have risen to the topmost layers of American system share their views privately. The American system is different from exclusivist British system but not much different.

You make a mistake in thinking Putin drives this. NOT TRUE. The Russian intelligentsia is united on this matter. Only thing is Putin is NOT a SOLD-OUT. Putin works for Russia.

I did not find anything graphic here. This is another video of Kiev regime's forces surrendering. As usual, some of them claimed they were following instructions. This excuse did not stand in the Nuremberg Trials. Hope this rag-tag bunch of homo sapiens turns into humans again.

Russian draft resolution on Ukraine passed by UN Security Council

The United Nations Security Council has voted unanimously to approve a Russia-drafted resolution to support the Minsk agreements, reached by the leaders of France, Germany, Russia and Ukraine last week.

The resolution was submitted to the UNSC by Russia on February 13, a day after the Minsk deal was agreed on. It is aimed at endorsing and executing the Minsk agreements.
Churkin urged the warring parties in Ukraine to create proper security conditions for the OSCE monitoring mission in the conflict zone and Debaltsevo, in particular.
During the heated debate in the chamber, Churkin repeatedly urged the Ukrainian side to enter into dialogue with representatives of its own country's east – instead of constantly blaming Moscow for interfering the conflict.

"You just cannot establish this dialogue! This is why we keep telling you: Start the dialogue with the residents of the east. And you say that we are interfering... and then we are getting asked: What do they want, the people of the east? Well, they want federalization. Find a dialogue!" Churkin said in rebuttal to his Ukrainian colleague.

The debate with his Latvian and Ukrainian counterparts became so tense that Churkin had to ask the chair of the meeting to calm down the other members.
@pmaitra : Looks like Latvia is on her period again.

So essentially a resolution endorsing the Minsk 2 has passed in UNSC.
So what does this mean?
Haven't Kiev forces &/or the oligarch forces already violated the agreement?
What happens when there are more violations, which there will be; will Ukraine be condemned for violated UNSC resolution?

@Razor, Poland, Lithuania, and to a slightly lesser extent, Latvia and Estonia are the troublemakers. They always seem to have an itch at the wrong place. The smaller the dog, the shriller the bark.

Anyway, let's see some more "European values." Kiev regime's forces shot three of their own when they attempted to surrender.

Excellent video.

@3:35: V. V. Kiselev, with a Soviet era cap. A handsome guy. He is the one who administered the surrender.
@4:35: "Arnold Schwarzenegger." Love the way he is handling that PK, standing. Like a boss. :D
@4:45: UBGL GP-25.
@6:00: Sensible Ukrops surrender while their hardened and brainwashed companions continue the fight. One militiaman even tells them to keep low so as not to get shot by the hardcore Ukrops.
@7:00: BTR arrives, and everything calms down.

Another video from the same place and time:

Look how the militiaman uses the PK @0:25 and @0:50. Grisha Phillipov (Graham Philips) was there too.

@pmaitra : Looks like CNN has accepted your suggestions.

Did CNN juts annex Ukraine for Russia?

Either CNN has inside information on a sinister Kremlin plan to occupy all of Ukraine or it made yet another blunder. In a new report on challenges facing Europe the news channel apparently marked the Eastern European nation as part of Russia.

The report detailed three major crises that European leaders are facing: the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) terrorist group expansion into Libya, the Greed debt debacle, and what CNN Newsroom anchor John Vause called "Russia's invasion of eastern Ukraine."

Illustrating his words is a map of Ukraine and its neighbors. On the chart, Ukraine and Russia are marked by the same color, with the Russian flag flying prominently over Ukraine under a title reading: "Diplomatic & military crisis."
Tadaaaaa

When a person fit for no more than brewing coffee can become the Assistant Secretary of State, what do you expect from the pipsqueaks presenting news?

I suggest you go to YouTube channels and read the posts by internet trolls. Those are far more reliable than the trash that comes out of CNN, NYT, BBC, etc..

Good find, nonetheless.

I just stopped by Kiev Post. They are still living in la-la land.

This Kyiv Post?

Kyiv Post: Founded by American (who supposedly allowed prostitution adverts in the newspaper.)
Later sold to British citizen of Pak descent.

:hmm:

Current Editor-in-Chief (who is also longest serving editor in chief) is also Amerikan.

Of course it is going to be unbiased and pure and 24k gold news, it is Amerikan after all.

Yes, that one. I deliberately write the correct spelling - Kiev. I am not an Ukrop.
