Character assassination of Russia by western media

The western media, with always room for exceptions, have embarked upon a a game of systematic mind-control of the world, using its press, to demonize Russia. Their sophisticated attempts include, spreading half truths, digging up old incidents and dramatizing them, and overall, drowning the media space with their repeated and unsubstantiated concoctions, because, even a lie repeated multiple times becomes the truth.

This thread is for posting examples of such attempts, that members at DFI have been able to question.

N.B.: If you find this thread stupid, you are free to comment on other threads.

A cheap PR stunt by BBC

BBC tries to subtly prime the mind of the readers, that Russia deliberately refused to share enough information with the US, and had they done so, the Boston Bomb Blasts could have been averted. What really happened is that the Russians first alerted the FBI. The FBI did nothing, despite all the NSA activities that were going on. Then, the Russians alerted the CIA, for the second time. Apparently, the US federal alphabet-soup agencies are only good at stealing cattle from a Nevada rancher.

What purpose does this serve? Why did BBC dig up this old issue?
  • To get the public to believe Russia was to some extent responsible for the terror attacks in Boston. (A very cheap stunt, by BBC.)
  • To sway public opinion against Russia.
  • To inject hate against Russians in general. (The west thrives on hate mongering.)
  • To cause the public to support some kind of intervention against Russia.

Here is the screenshot.

Character assassination of Berkut

Part of the western media, but mainly online commentators, demagogues, neo-Nazi Right Sector and Euro-Maidan sycophants, have been propagating the narrative that those snipers were Berkut. On close examination of the pictures from that fateful day from Google Images, we conclude the following:
  • The Berkut were in blue attire, and are armed with, what appears to be shotguns or tear-gas dispensers.
  • The snipers were in all different types of attires, and some in black. None of them are in the blue Berkut attire.

So why is Berkut being blamed?
  • To shield the real culprits, the snipers hired by Euro-Maidan leaders, and some suspect them to be Blackwater/Gerystone mercenaries.
  • To find a scapegoat, as Berkut are believed to be loyal to the ousted President Yanukovich.

Berkut Personnel

Snipers

Where were the snipers?

Fratricide?
Many policemen were also killed int he sniper attack. Is it at all believable that alleged Berkut snipers would fire upon their own compatriots?

Conclusion: There is no evidence that Berkut were the snipers. All the evidence indicates otherwise.
Moreover, repeating the same fiction multiple times does not make it a fact, however, the person who constantly repeats it, and the person who constantly hears it, might begin to believe it.

Is it only Russia's suspicion?
Is it only Russia that suspects that the US might have used their mercenaries? Refer to: 'US uses mercenaries where it wants its hands clean'

Not quite. Here is what an American has to say about US hired mercenaries (see from 7:45 onwards):

Wikipedia being updated with western narrative

We must understand Wikipedia is updated by various sources. There is also a note about the neutrality of the article in question, at the top of the article. However, it still serves as a mode of information dispersal.

Let us see what kind of information is available at this article:

Alleged "Police sniper."

On close inspection, or by enlarging the image, it can be seen that each of the three men are holding what appears to be either a shot-gun or a tear-gas dispenser.

Even Jane's?

Jane's reported Russian military buildup and posted a picture from Spot Image S. A., where it was claimed that the image was of Belgorod airstrip.

Alleged "Belgorod airstrip."

DFI member @Razor questioned the credibility of that satellite image. On close investigation, the Belgorod airstrip turned out to be very different. Scouting around Belgorod, no place could be located where the terrain matches that in the Janes' report.

Belgorod airstrip that we could locate.

N.B.: We would be happy to be corrected with proper coordinates.

And this, after the FSB (Russia) literally told them: Hey watch out for these guys. :tsk:

Well you are looking at Belgorod International Airport. They were talking of a Belgorod military airstrip.Seriously can you find a tiny military airstrip in such a place like Russia unless your are CIA and your job is to look for secret Russian military installations.

I wonder why they did not provide co-ordinates for most of these photos, so that common people can take a look and see the truth for themselves. :hmm:
Or did they provide the co-ordinates ?
What do you think ?

Well even if they provided coordinates it would not help us.Google Earth updates its satellite images frequently so when people would look the Russians might not be there.

Google Earth has a feature to look into past satellite images. Besides, it would not harm if the West gives the co-ordinates, it will only boost credibility (which they lack.)
BTW did you know the US used doctored photos before the Iraq war ?
So now tell me who should be trusted.

True thread! Even History channel demonizes Russia. Many programs in many English channels try to project Soviets as "inhuman/ruthless/opportunists/cowards etc".

So we are getting more proof that despite all the shit about freedom and democracy- that America is a closet police state where the press has no freedom and has to tow the official line of the US. I wonder how much of the the news in US is tailored for the audience by the govt. I guess almost every one:laugh:

People who are "hating" Russia because of it's past atrocities on others countries needs to check the history of US as well where US supported and invaded smaller countries at will.Start counting the invasions and atrocities.

US never wants a strong Russia and knows how to manipulate media and it doesnt really cares for people of Ukraine but just wants to teach Russia a lesson by fueling conflicts in it's borders.Russia recently denied a certain invasion of Syria and US is still fuming in anger.

For US it doesnt matter if people of Ukraine live or die but it never wants a Russia who is united and strong. We all know who was behind the breakup of USSR.The same "peaceful" US almost invaded India to support Paki Terrorists in 71.

I clicked on the link. It took me to the image of the same location I had already pasted, and even @Razor had identified earlier. It is not the Belgorod airstrip. It is the Belgorod International Airport.

Try to verify what you post.
I have told here is "your" Belgorord airstrip ie the pictures of Belgorod international airstrip you have posted.I have already mentioned in an earlier post that a military airstrip cannot be found so easily.

Why are so many people here assuming that all Americans believe what the US media says ?

The US media has been duped many times like the media in many other countries by clever govt institutions.
Most Americans know that......especially after what happened in Iraq.
A lot of folks are very skeptical about what they read in the media.

If you really want to gauge what people think - then read the "Readers comments" section of some serious newspapers like NYT, Washington Post, LA Times, Chicago Tribune and see what the readers think.

You will find many Americans saying that Ukraine is Russian turf and the US should stay out of it.
Just because the Media print something, doesn't mean that everyone is buying it.

@mattster, not all Americans believe everything in US media, but they are a small and voiceless minority.
