Russia Confirms Tactical Missile Deployment on NATO Borders

MOSCOW, December 16 (RIA Novosti) – Russia confirmed Monday that it has deployed tactical ballistic missiles near its borders with NATO but said the move did not violate international agreements.
Bild newspaper in Germany reported over the weekend that Russia had "quietly" moved 10 Iskander-M (SS-26 Stone) missile systems into its Baltic exclave of Kaliningrad and along its border with the Baltic States and NATO members Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
The deployment marks the realization of threats from Moscow to respond with a firm gesture to NATO plans to place elements of the so-called European missile shield close to Russian borders.
"The deployment of Iskander missile battalions on the territory of the Western Military District does not violate any respective international agreements," ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.
Konashenkov declined to provide details on the number of deployed missiles or their specific locations.
The Iskander-M is a mobile theater missile system equipped with two solid-propellant single-stage 9M723K1 guided missiles with "quasi-ballistic" capability.
With its reported effective range of 400 kilometers (250 miles), the Iskander does not fall into the category of intermediate-range nuclear missiles banned by the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty between Russia and the United States.
The missiles deployed in Kaliningrad could hit NATO targets located in Poland, Lithuania and even in Germany, however.

Well, Russia did warn the US not to disrupt strategic balance of the region via NATO encroachment and so called European missile shield against Iran lol

well The American doesn't go to war directly to Iran ..Firstly sanctions then a Littile bit room to stop the thing leads to war (such as nuke program or Gassing ) thirdly giving support to third countries to launch small skirmishes ..Finally the Country who fighting with enemy may get Arms support through UN and NATO

after some years Russia announces CIA's hands in the war leads the win

The so called European missile shield is not against Iran, that is just hogwash. In reality it is for Russia. It negatively affects the balance of the region and that is why Russia is so against it (and why the hell not, the US was jumping up and down when the USSR placed its goods in Cuba )

And the so called Euro missile shield has important components in countries like Poland and Czech Republic, which is why I think, Russia has placed these missiles in Kaliningrad. Russia had made it clear even before that if Poland or any other puppet places components of the shield on its soil then they are forcing them (Russia) to take retaliatory counter-measures.

True ..Basically It's for Russia ..but the Iranians comes middle of that with their nukes

these fuking SS 26 are hard to intercept and able to carry Nukes as well a small truck can carry two of them ..That's a Bad ass system when you spotted it near your Border . If they fired the SS 26 anywhere near the euro Missile Shield then there will be a 100% of Nuke war ..

Nice find.
They did try a lot to persuade the Americans to abandon the missile shield plan and they even gave the Americans the option of placing a shield somewhere around Azerbaijan, which is closer to Iran but of course America refused (obviously coz the shield is meant for the Russians).

Anyway, the missiles were probably placed in Kaliningrad several months back, but it was confirmed just last week.
