The car is imported into India via the CBU (Completely Built-up Unit) route. so the price because of import duty, taxes and so on wish they start manufacturing in India then we can get the price down to some 50 lakhs

I find argument that cars in india especially high end cars are more expensive compared to America and Europe and even other places because of tax and import duty not appropriate. Take a wider sample of countries and even countries with higher tax regimes and compare the price. Indians are paying higher it's no doubt. Is it fair and reasonable I am shocked there has not been any journalist and group that has not asked why Indians pay more,

But on other scale Indians have cars at cheaper rate also on lower end like the nano, but that does not take aways from the fact that Indians pay more and also get less specifications for the price they pay.
