China slams Japan on Arunachal Pradesh support

China said on Monday it had strongly protested with Japan the comments made by its Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida on Arunachal Pradesh during his recent visit to New Delhi, saying it had "lodged serious representations" with Tokyo.

The Japanese Foreign Minister, following his meetings with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, was quoted as saying in media reports that Arunachal Pradesh, which China has claims on, was "an Indian territory which is disputed by China". He was also, at the same time, quoted as saying that Japan, which has pledged support for infrastructure projects in the North-East, had no plans to invest the State.

China on Monday slammed Kishida's remarks. "China has taken note of such report, we are seriously concerned about this and have lodged serious representation with the Japanese side, asking Japan to make clarification and immediately remove negative implications arising from this," Foreign Minister spokesperson Hong Lei told a regular press briefing in response to a question raised by Chinese State media about Kishida's remarks.

China said in November that Japan had "clarified" its stand that it would not involve itself in any infrastructure projects in Arunachal, responding to Indian media reports which said that the Border Roads Organization had given "strategic" projects to the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) along the China border. Japanese officials then clarified to India Today that projects in states bordering China were out of the scope of the JICA survey.

Japan's official position is that it does not hold a position on the India-China boundary dispute, Chinese officials said. "Japan has said explicitly to China that Japan holds no position and it will not intervene in the disputed area between China and India," Hong said. "Japan has also made public clarifications on this".

He said China's position "on the eastern part of China - India boundary is clear and consistent", adding that both sides were "currently through the special representatives meeting mechanism… seeking the solution to resolve the boundary question that is fair, reasonable and acceptable to both sides".

"We hope the Japanese side can understand the sensitiveness of China-India border question and respect China and India's efforts to resolve dispute through negotiations and be prudent in its words and actions," he added.

China Is Mad At Japan Over Comments About A Border Dispute With India

BEIJING (Reuters) - China on Monday lodged a protest with Tokyo after Japanese media quoted Japan's foreign minister as saying that a disputed border region between China and India belonged to India, in the latest source of friction between the two Asian rivals.

Japan's foreign ministry played down the issue, saying it could not confirm Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida's reported remarks. It added that it hoped India and China could resolve their dispute peacefully.

Tensions between China and Japan have risen in recent years, fueled by a row over a chain of uninhabited islets in the East China Sea. Their relations have long been poisoned by what China sees as Japan's failure to atone for its occupation of parts of China before and during World War Two.

Japan's Sankei Shimbun, a conservative daily, quoted Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida as saying in New Delhi on Saturday that Arunachal Pradesh that lies on the contested border was "India's territory".

China disputes the entire territory of Arunachal Pradesh, calling it south Tibet, especially Tawang, a key site for Tibetan Buddhism. The historic town briefly fell into Chinese hands during their 1962 war before Beijing retreated.

Kishida's reported remarks drew an angry response from China, which called on Tokyo to "understand the sensitivity of the Sino-India boundary issue".

"(We) have lodged solemn representations with Japan and have asked Japan to make clarifications and immediately eliminate the negative effects that have resulted from this," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said at a daily news briefing.

Hong said that Japan has told China "it will not intervene" in the border dispute.

A Japanese Foreign Ministry spokesman said "the statement was made considering the reality that Arunachal Pradesh state is basically in reality controlled by India and that China and India are continuing negotiations over the border dispute".

"Japan hopes that the dispute will be peacefully resolved by negotiations between the two countries," he said, adding he could not confirm Kishida's remarks which were made during a Q&A session.

Japanese lip service has turned Indian fanboys on. However japan clarifies nada for India occupied S. Tibet.

Perhaps it''s the timing to speed up Chinese investment in S. Kurils of Russia which Japanese claim as theirs.

It is not lip service that has turned India into famboys.

It is the jump in Japanese investment in India that has caused the phenomenon.

China can howl and whine, but Japan is moving on.

The remark by the Japanese Minister was only to get under China's skin just in the same manner Abe pays homage to the war dead at the Shinto shrine oblivious to China's shrieks and tearing its hair.

What is next ? Japan support for independent TIBET and East Turkesthan ??

With increasing economic growth rate of India and likely catching up with China's [falling growth rate and flight of business elsewhare] it is inevitable ...

Good diplomacy from current government ...

LoL...it seems Indian member really naive and childish about the international relations... but the government should be a little more mature ...
------------------
between China and Japan , there are too many unspoken rules/agreements between two nations due to the complicated relations formed in the long history. one of them is keeping the neutrality on the boundary issue between the other country and the third nations...China keep neutral when reporting the issue about "four northern islands"(Japan -Russia) and "Dokdo or Takeshima"(Japan - South Korea) arguments ... since one side broke the bottom line , the other was also freed..LOL...

China Foreign Ministry would speak aloud against the Japan FM's "speech" this time as a matter of course. when finally it turned to be the Japan's standpoint , China could change her standpoint on those issues as well .it's really not big deal, recent Japan Governments had broken too much such unspoken rules...LoL... any way, these boundary issue could only be solved by the disputing parties especially between two giants...so called investment or lip service was offered ,but there is no free launch in the world.

------------------
today the national source published the 2014 GDP growth report. the economic aggregate is about 10,361,092 million dollars @ 7.4% vs the 2013's 9,184,986 million @7.7...the absolute value of increment is about 1,200,000 million dollars, more than the half of Indian economic aggregate which means China increase an Indian GDP every two years... when you understand this , you might avoid talking about these issues here. and too much 'future tense English ' in the the claims is another funny thing...

Naive you are.

Who cares for what China has to say.

What China says is relevant?

China speak a dime to a dozen and mostly irrelevant.

Foreign relations is bilateral and China has no business to dictate.

And even if it does, it matters not.

China is merely worried that it is exposed as an aggressor.

All you understand is MONEY.

It is dwindling for China in any case.

Act more aggressive and you will become a 'has been' and a pariah.

Actually, Chinese are quite paranoid of the Japanese. So, in this case they can't stop their emotions from overflowing.
