Well, you have to appreciate Chinese diplomacy.

The Uighurs in China are Turkic and it is a very hot button issue in Turkish politics. Turks case less for Palestinians for example as compared to the Uighurs. Yet the Chinese have repeated opened up to Turkey, asked them to invest in East Turkistan and at the same time maintainig an iron hand policy in the region.

Pertinent to note that the Turkish president visited India in 2010 and the last Indian PM level visit was in September 2003.

Building ties the world over is a smooth move.

Turkey in Nato is just like the mice sh!t in the soup. Not a bad choice to take advantage of Turkish's ambitions in ME. That's all.

Looking at this, though it is smart of China to approach Turkey, Turks are unintentionally becoming the sri lanka of NATO with this card. This won't go down well with the NATO countries.

Turkey has been moving away from NATO and has picked up a fight with Israel. The visit has come 2 years later than expected. Turkey choosing the wrong side at the wrong time.
